Reading Rebel
Al the best to Craig Scott who will be out til at least December due to requiring an operation. Looks like we could be on the look-out for another center back. One name that was mentioned pre season was Mark Nisbet who is not really getting a look in at Maidenhead. 3spirit
Mark Nisbet might be a good fit for Slough if we could get him. He was captain for Maidenhead last season. As you say, RR, he's not been getting much of a look in for Alan Devonshire's team. He is one player that I thought we may of been able to attract here in the summer, from the fallout of Drax's leaving. The thing is with him, is that he's suffered a long term injury, too. Whether he's over it fully, I don't know. I suppose how much money he would want would be a question mark, too.
Graham Cox
Would Dave Woozley be a temporary solution..............still think we miss him anyway !
Ian
With Guy still away managing family stuff, anyone coming in would be backup as Macdonald and Lake are forming a decent partnership.

Ian
........but both of them are not long term. Depends what you mean long-term. They are both good for this season - I'm not sure at this level planning goes much beyond that.
3spirit
Depends what you mean long-term. They are both good for this season - I'm not sure at this level planning goes much beyond that. Ian, what I was getting at is Stuart L and Gary M are not spring chickens, in age in football terms. To build a successful side, I believe the centre half partnership is probably the most important places in the team to get right. To me Guy Hollis is our number one centre half currently. He has age, strength, talent and speed to his advantage. I'm not writing off either of the other two, as both are very experienced and can do a good job for this season,so are worth keeping but for me losing Craig Scott is a blow and Stuart Lake currently is only helping out, I believe. So bringing in a younger but proven centre half would be the right way to go especially now Adam Foulser unfortunately cannot play and Billy Jeffery's has this recurrent knee problem. Reading Rebel
Stuart Lake cannot commit fully i.e. cannot make long journeys and some other games.
Reading Rebel
One minute we have 5 center backs and now we are practically down to 1. Bad luck or what!!
Bernie Gogan
Apparently Carl Davies is looking for a new club!
Reading Rebel
Apparently Carl Davies is looking for a new club! No disrespect to Carl Davies but is he of the quality we are looking for? As far as I'm aware Carl is looking for a new club, I think we are looking for more of a duel reg or loan player until our other central defenders are ready to return. GlenSTFC
I'm right in thinking Carl is a striker and had only played a couple games as CB. He's ex Binfield I believe so yes not sure he's the type of quality for our level? Hopefully we can get a decent loan signing in.

Neil Baker
Just so people are aware, we have a 7 day approach in for a player, and also talking to a couple of clubs about potential loans, and also a player who has not been playing this season, but who is looking to get back into it, and who has played many games at Conference National level. Nothing will be done in time for this weekend, however we will have Guy Hollis available.
Mr Rebel
think most would agree that the squad as a whole isn't quite as strong as could be in a few areas at the moment due to a number of different reasons. good to hear some new options are being looked at
Jon Underwood
Options are always being looked at Mr Rebel and the two of us probably speak 10 times a day! We always want to improve wherever possible and believe we need 1 or 2 additions....but we need to make sure they are the right ones.
