v Cirencester

A very good performance where I think we dominated the match without too many clear cut chances. I thought Nathan Webb was superb yesterday as was Mpi & Smithy with their work rate and determination which did pay off with that goal. I was thinking on the way home, have I seen us have a better set of resources up top in my time watching Slough, we have often had 2 or maybe 3 quality strikers at times (Hodges, Boot & Winston spring to mind) but never 4 equally deserving of a starting place IMO.

Looking ahead and to Burnham I think its catch 22, whilst you do not rate the competition highly I guess there is an argument to not disrupt and to try and build momentum.

Mark44, it makes sense that all the players who have been on the bench will start the game and have the chance to impress for Saturday's FA cup game.

Agree.

For a Mickey Mouse cup, like the Berks and Bucks Cup has become, I think it would be worthwhile experimenting with the line-up,formation and tactically.

There's no point risking our main players. I would use the match, as a fitness exercise to replace training that night.

Regardless of Dorking being in a league one below us, they  haven't lost a match yet this season, so will be heading into the game with us completely full of confidence in themselves.

Just remember us, when we were in the 1st division and flying, knocking out premier sides, because of our belief, and of course being beaten by teams like Erith and Wroxham because we went in there expecting to have an easy game against a team lower than ourselves.

You have to respect every team you play, regardless of the level they play.

You just don't over respect teams, as that has the same outcome as disrespecting them.

There are loads of cup games in history where that has happened, from the bottom of the pyramid, right up to the top.

I thought we were a joy to watch yesterday. Cirencester didn't have much of a sniff as Slough worked so hard to close them down at every turn. I remember one point where Sean Fraser was trying to win possession from their left back, inside the Cirencester box, as he was trying to get it clear - great to watch. There were a number of candidates for MoM but chose Mpi for his overall work ethic and of course the superbly taken goal.

I think it's vital to have got a league win chalked up before the break for cup action, as I was getting a little worried the poor run we were on would continue.

RR what are the bookies odds as they know best do they ????? COYREBELS.

RD, the bookies don't give odds for the early rounds of the FA cup but if they did I reckon we'd be slightly odds on favourites this Saturday so for once we better hope they are right.

BTW just your luck but you missed a cracking win and performance on Saturday   ;)

Your right RR sounds like i missed a cracking game.

Was very happy to hear we had won with the display being the icing on the cake.

The team will be even stronger with Hatchet Mark Craig and Jake coming back over next few weeks.

What about Rummy will he be rejoining this month that would be so good for the team.

Just the decisons Unders and Bakes will crave for.

Love to hear your reasoning Jon? Dorking are 2nd in their league which is one below us, so in effect there's only around 6-7 actual league places between the teams plus they're at home and is the FA Cup which not sure if you're aware but is known for 'giant killings'!

Yes I am aware of giant killings , take Slough v Millwall for example .But if we maintain the level we reach against Cirencester there shouldn't be a problem in my estimation . There seems to be a culture on here about the opposition being better than what they are. Surely we should go into every game believing we can win.

Believe you can win but don't come across as arrogantly confident and give the opposition all the ammunition they need to get fired up.

Do like non league headline Mpi silences Cirens.

Just as 3spirit hopes he has done to me as he knows what a great fan of Hatchet I am.

He has been banging on for along time on thie site as well about getting Charlie or someone like him in the

team as they give the team some think different well i might have to eat some humble pie.

What a good position for the managers to have four strikers that can be rotated for different games.

But i still say Hatchet gives defences no rest bite through out the game makes spaces for others as well as scoring his fair share too.

I don't want to gloat too much,RD ! ha ha !

As you say, it's great to have 4 good forwards to choose from, with each having different strengths.

Now we have to get the midfield right and give the strikers the service !
