OK, it's only the B&B cup but it looks like Burnham are up for it and we aren't.

 

Could be a really embarrassing night with the regular players and the ones coming in not doing themselves any favours.

I'm too thinking Burnham want it a little more than us (I'll resist from saying it's their cup final!!!). A little disappointed the players who may not be current regulars haven't taken this opportunity to stake their claim for Saturday and beyond?

Disappointed to see that Putts has been subbed on 78 minutes, I'd have thought he needed the 90 minutes?

 

Jake Parsons on, fingers crossed he comes through unscathed.

Well fought with all balls chased down and double marking when the opposition got the ball, good breaks to beat the defence and a will to win, and the high balls dealt with by the defence. 

 

Unfortunately that was Burnham and they deserved the win, however the Slough players did not read the managers notes in the programme about wanting to win the county cup which was achieved with their old club.

 

Something major needs to happen if a FA cup run is to happen.

A typical "not bothered" B&B performance from everyone today. Nothing unexpected, but this does make me wonder why we bother competing, if all we're going to do is churn out these types of performances year after year? Just forfeit and give everyone a night off

Truly horrible team performance. Not sure what to make of it. We never looked likely to score.

 

This cup is probably the least prioritised cup and we didn't have our strongest lineup but the application we showed to the task was nowhere near good enough

 

Those that came in didn't really do themselves any justice at all unfortunately resulting in a borderline humiliation

Every player out there, especially the ones who didn't play on Saturday, should have been busting a gut to try to claim a place in the starting 11 for Saturday. Otherwise why bother turning up and putting their boots on?

 

Maybe the £750 fine is the reason why we don't forfeit the B&B cup?

As one of the few who went tonight I envy those who stayed at home.

 

Poor performance all round from those in Amber and blue. We struggled to put together more than three passes and so it isn't surprising that we didn't test the burnham keeper. Lewis Putman was the only one who didn't have a bad game though it's hard to say he had a good game.

 

Positive is we now have one less distraction.

If the fine is £750 then surely with the gate receipts from tonight around £300 we would have lost nearly that amount anyway? Maybe we should forfeit as it's obviously last on the list of priorities and our record in recent years is pretty poor.

If you had gone to them match you would have seen that it was a "not bothered" performance.

 

Not sure how much the players get payed but it probably is more than the £750 fine.

All the more galling when, apparently, the budget's been slashed at Burnham. Their centre-back Carl Davies isn't afraid of saying so on Twitter!

Whilst it was pretty poor tonight I don't think it was a case of the players not trying or caring. It just didn't happen tonight and in fairness to Burnham I thought they played well.

 

If nothing else, this shows that it doesn't matter who the opposition are, if we are not on our game we are going to get punished. In advance of a game against lower level opposition in the FA Cup I'd say that's not the worst lesson to come out of tonight.

I think from Burnhams viewpoint, they saw we had made many changes and putting out a weakened side maybe they saw us as arrogant which made them even more determined to put one over us?

If it is I can't believe he will be playing for Burnham much longer.

At the end of the day we were comprehensively beaten at home by a lower league team who wanted it more and never had to get out of second gear.

 

And yes, it's only the B&B cup, so no need to get worked up about it. But it's also true that we use this excuse every single season. If we don't care, then why compete?
