Jeremy Corbyn - Good or Bad?

Recommended Posts

I'll be honest, He wouldn't be my choice as a potential Prime Minister.

He's probably a better candidate than some people would have you believe - he is going to be demonised by the right wing press no matter what.

His attitude to the worse off in society and criticism of Iain Duncan-Smith should be applauded (IDS is a snake).

A lot of his ideas I don't agree with - Clause 4. No thank you - that's a backward step (maybe we need to look at the railways though).

I'm not keen on any of the candidates to be honest.

The problem is that we need a fairer electoral system anyway as the two main parties have not been representative of the public for a long time, turning people off politics altogether. If you want to know what the Tories are all about, making it one of their top priorities to bring back Fox Hunting tells you all you need to know really.

Corbyn definitely wouldn't have been anywhere near the top of my wish list a couple of months ago, but I'm now completely converted and mightily impressed by the way he has grown into the role he is seeking.

Agree that the right wing gutter press will have a field day in trying to demonise him, but it certainly didn't work with Nicola Sturgeon who won possibly the greatest landslide in UK political history, and I think enough of the electorate will see through the lies and vote for him regardless.

Not sure which way I go on Corbyn as leader.

He certainly has more fire in him than all the others do.  He probably will get in and take the party back to the left of centre, which Bliar started.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see !

Having seen Alex Salmond a few times now, I've actually been quite impressed by him. The SNP have done quite well to be fair

Obviously bad despite the coincidental fact that he is my local MP and I know the market trader very well where Corbyn buys his vests:

My stallholder friend who sells Corbyn his vests on Holloway market says he's the salt of the earth and although he is a Conservative will be voting Labour if Corbyn wins the Leadership vote.

I have waited all my adult life for a potential Prime Minister who supports the kind of policies JC is promoting. As I was a baby when Clem Atlee was PM, IMO the last half decent one was Harold Wilson, so its been quite a long wait.

I have never been a labour votor, but I am a life member of UNISON.

Corbyn is going to win.  So we see where we go from there.

Think Corbyn's heart is in the right place, just not sure about his policies.

Yes, that's what I was getting at, he's a lovely bloke apparently but will be a laughing stock as Labour leader, even more so than Ed Miliband was if that's possible

We do need a fairer society than we've currently got , we do need to stop demonising people less well off then ourselves -it's the single biggest reason why I've never voted Conservative and never will.

Jeremy Corbyn would have fitted in nicely into post-war 1940's Britain but he's a man out of time unfortunately (I hate to use the word anachronism , especially as I usually can't spell it!). He is the best candidate for Labour though and I'm pretty sure will win the Labour leadership contest. I think that's a sad reflection on the calibre of candidates up for election, I think that the Labour party have got some thinking to do. Having said that, he might prove me wrong so I'll keep an open mind if he gets elected.

Edited by cup of tea

Every one of the Labour candidates is better than either Cameron or Osborn though - If you prioritise bringing back fox hunting ahead of taking care of the disabled in this country then I think that says it all really.

I couldn't agree more, Cuppa.

The tories only want what is best for the top 5% of the population.

Corbyn might just give them a real hard time in the house, especially if he gets the backing of SNP MP's.
