waggamick1
From the Leiston site: A look ahead for the next seven days at Victory Road and within the club On Tuesday evening the First Team travel to Enfield Town looking to continue their good start to the Ryman Premier Division this season. The previous four visits to the Queen Elizabeth Stadium have seen two wins with two defeats. Blues 3 Lewes 1 1 day ago, By LFC Media Table topping Blues see off spirited RooksThe Blues head the early Ryman Premier Division table for the first time ever after defeating Lewes in the scorching Suffolk sun. Gareth Heath calmly stroked home his first goal of the season before the Rooks levelled. Heath missed the opportunity to double his tally, seeing his penalty comfortably saved before Joe Jefford fired home to give the Blues an interval lead. After squandering a host of chances the home side sealed the win three minutes from time when Joe Francis netted from the second penalty award of the game. waggamick1
Is there any chance of you blokes holding these games at Noon your time so I can keep track of them at a reasonable time at the other end of the Earth?
waggamick1
Just home (9pm) from a friendly between Western Sydney Wanderers(A League Champs 2013 and Asian Champs 2014) and local side Canberra FC. Been raining all day and very cold but not a bad game all up with 3 Spanish players trialling for WSW. Occurred to me that to avoid the hit and miss of Penalty Shoot Outs after draws that it might be better to keep a count of how many deliberate back passes are made to Goal Keepers and the team with the least number gets the result in Cups, etc. Seems these days that it is far too easy to go negative and push the ball back to the keeper. I watched the two keepers from WSW warm up and at least 50% of their warm up consisted of trapping and kicking back passes.
littlehampton
A cracking game in prospect at the QE Stadium this evening, and everyone will be hoping that Town carry on where they left off on Saturday, with another good performance and win, to lift us up the table. Leiston have started well this season, so it will be a tough old game and we will need to ride our luck and put away chances. Good luck to Brad and the boys.Hope the weather is much better in the Enfield area, than down here on the south coast where it has been torrential rain all day long. The Crowing Cockerel
5 games in and 3 points on the board. Panic stations? No, not yet. However, it does seem that everyone else has strengthened apart from us. At present we're missing the aerial prowess Kirby provided at the back. With Vilcu still a couple of weeks away we are lacking in height in both boxes. Its time for Brad to realise the expectations he raised at the end of last season. Come on The Town! SeasideTowner
I agree with your post. Strange to think that a centre half could be the heart beat of your team but Mark Kirby was. He didn't play against us 2 weeks ago and he was in the crowd tonight. Go get him Brad...... We miss him and we need him !
waggamick1
Super away win for the Blues A thoroughly hard working performance saw the Blues secure all the points on their travels. Both goals came via free kicks. Tom Bullard was credited with the opener, getting the faintest, final touch to Gareth Heath's free kick mid way through the first half. Three minutes into the second half Leon Ottley-Gooch tapped home from close range after Tom Bullard had headed Danny Cunningham's free kick into his path as the Blues maintained their lead at the top of the Ryman Premier Division. littlehampton
Another reverse last night, and a very disappointing start to the new season for the Town, who after 5 matches are 20th in the RPL table, having scored only one League goal to date. With 40-plus matches still to be played, there is a long, long way to go, but if we seriously aspire to winning the League, or getting into the play-offs, we need to raise the bar, start grinding out results and banging in goals, to improve our goal difference, which could be crucial come the end of the season I agree with the above comments made by The Crowing Cockerel and Seaside Towner. The one person we miss from last season, above all others, is former Club captain Mark Kirby. He was an inspirational figure in our defence, during his time at the club, and he is just the kind of player we need to help turn thing's around. If he is not getting game time at Hendon, let's re-sign Mark and welcome him back to the QE Stadium. How about it Brad?
lovely stuff
Can't fault the effort and attacking intent last night.Once again our shooting and finishing were poor.We let in both goals from set pieces because we had no height in defence again..With Vilcu fit (and Kirby back) we would have had a clean sheet last night. The Crowing Cockerel
So its clear: We either start banging-in more goals than the oppo - which probably means signing a quality striker. Or we make sure we keep clean sheets - which probably means signing a tall, imposing centre-half. Job done. Its easy this management lark!
