FF News
After just one month of pre-season with Salford City and then one competitive match with Ramsbottom United, 26 year-old attacker Shelton Payne has decided to hang up his boots for good. The centre-forward, who played for promotion-winning FC United last season, made little impact on his debut in Saturday's defeat away to Rushall Olympic, before posting on his twitter feed just after lunch on Monday: "All the best to everyone at Rammy for the season. Nothing personal, my heart's just not really in playing football anymore." Rams' Manager Jon Robinson said, "I wish Shelton all the best for his future, but we could see from Saturday's performance that his mind wasn't really on the game. With the pressure to perform at this level, we need our players 100 percent committed and battling for the Rammy cause."
