Magnificent Urchins

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

well...we've all seen the replays on the box and we all now know for certain what we knew before....we were totally and unfairly robbed of a famous victory by the ref....(f****n' w***er)

it wasn't just the two vinni incidents...it was the 20 or so free kicks he gave them for f*** all in the second half and also the time wasting that went unpunished...

we'll get over it and what we WILL remember is the magnificent display from our boys....they played Tranmere off the park and made 'em look poor...

Tranmere will be the happiest bunch in the country tonight as they munch their fish and chip suppers on their journey home......good luck to 'em...it aint their fault is it...

well done you players and fans and staff....brilliant day and always to be remembered....as arnie said....

we'll be back...

well done you urchins...

That's right Unc. Season's not over yet. We can still win the league although Canvey have gotta be favs aint they. I only hope that some more of the 3500 that turned up today turn up next week etc.

I saw one of the school dads at the Darlo match who I've never seen over there before, or for a league match since. I ask him if he anjoyed the match and he said he even got his photo in The Sun! Amazing. Turn up for one match and instantly "famous".

If we get an extra 200 regular supporters every week from this cup run then the effort really has been worth it eh?

Congrats guys, nice to see any club doing the Ryman proud, although sadly I haven't seen any of the FA Cup this season short of a few minutes of Gravesend this evening.

(Random thought - is Maladroit from the album title?)

200 regulars from a cup run for my money's a bit optimistic (although possible the way you're advancing). I'd say for the average Ryman Premier side, 20-30 extra regulars solely from a cup run would be good.

Anyway, good luck to you, except for this Saturday

Not too sure what to write today. I feel the urge to talk about the w*nker that cheated us out of winning or earning a replay yesterday, but that won't change the outcome of the game. Instead, I'll take from the game the fact that we played so well against opposition 44 places above us in the football pyramid. I do want to say though a big thank you and well done to the players, to all the staff at Hornchurch and to Uncle, who all contributed to making yesterday so good. Yes, we lost, but we didn't sit crying into our pints, we had a good few beers in the clubhouse, before moving on to the curry house opposite the Bridge House and then finally ended up in the Bridge House. There are only positives to come out of yesterdays match. From where we have come in the past 2 years to where we are now is nothing short of outstanding. Did anyone seriously think 2 years ago that we'd be sitting here now debating a bent referee that conned us out of a game against Tranmere in the second round of the FA Cup?? No. This clubs achievements have been marvellous and what is the most important thing to come out of yesterday’s game is the need to retain a small faction of some of that crowd of 3500 we had yesterday. It maybe 200 or 300, it maybe 20 or 30, whatever it is, we need to build on what we have achieved. It’s onwards and upwards, Bryco Cup on Tuesday, Supporters Christmas Party on Thursday and Hendon on Saturday at home!

Quite agree Lord, not gonna let the ref spoil what was an excellent day. Things I enjoyed about yesterday:

1.I was first served in HX Bar dead on eleven.

2.Chatted to the lovely Urchinette3 (Both of them)

3.Beers with all my mates.

4.Great to be back on a packed terrace and loads of singing(Not from the mickeys though just HX).

5. Lord and one of his brothers being warned by a poncy steward about their language in the terrace.

6.Meeting Hornchurchmag, Bridge + Horniman (maybe not sure), was bit cloudy as to who was who.

I also saw an irate Emhdad walk in the bar after the game haha.

7.West Ham nearly winning.

8. Uncle Urchin telling us to put the match into perspective despite being annoyed.

9.Great 30minute chat with George Borg, very interesting, on all aspects of football.

10.Ruby at the end of the night & back in the BH for last pint.

Make that two!!! I saw myself a couple of times last night taking photographs on the Running Track. They even paused in on me when they were doing the analysis! Although you couldn't see my face, I recognised the coat and trousers!!!

I feel a lot better after having a kip

Well said Lord! Very big of you - afraid I was too pissed off yesterday to get any sensible perspective...

Note to team:

Keep a clean sheet - score 7 at the other end - one of them is bound to count....

(I'm not bitter)

Very well said Lord and to whoever said about the more fans turning up after our magnificent cup run, I myself will be there for as many league games as I possibly can..

I have nothing but total admiration for the staff, players, supporters, and everyone else concerned with making the Urchins what they are.

Long may it continue!!

And Nige..Irate??..LOL...doesn't even come near what I was feeling!!!

Anyway as I'm not allowed to divulge any details it could have been you I was talking about in the first place!

No it was the 2 blokes who normally sit with LMU.

It was like a family day out - Mum, Dad and brother (El Capitano), as well as bro's 3 mates (1 of whom doesn't like football but pops along to watch the Urchins every now-and-then) and one of their sisters.

Next time I'm on the TV I promise not to look quite so cold and miserable!!!
