BURNHAM

Saw a clip of the Beaconsfield SYCOB game yesterday and I could count around 12 from what I could see of nearly 3 sides of the ground, so I was surprised to hear the crowd was in the '70's'.

Maybe what they meant was the 12 spectators were all in their seventies!

I can confirm that there were 55 spectators at Burnham as I counted them.

Due to working on Saturday until 2pm it was too far to drive to Stratford therefore Burnham provided my 'football fix'.

I think that there were more people in the gym than there were watching the game!!

So say £10 per head (over estimating and including any food/drink) x 55 = £550. Pretty sure their playing/management budget would be at least double that. Include officials' fees, staff, electrics and any other overheads you can see what they could be losing or needing to make from elsewhere.

Of course Warren but a crowd of 55 can't support a Central Division club, I presume their other revenue streams are propping up the football but this will mean they'll struggle to ever make any money? You'd think once we get our ground their crowds will suffer further. Step 5 really is Burnham and SYCOB's level based on finances/support/potential.

I don't think getting our own ground will have any affect on Burnham's 'crowd'.

I think you've got to realise that Burnham is a small village and the people who follow Burnham have a small village mentality. By that I mean the vast majority of the people who go to watch Burnham only want to watch a game of football if it's on their doorstep or in their village and are not prepared or bothered to watch them when they play outside of the village.

They are obviously being propped up by the gym events facilities that they have.

Before any one (non regular) decides to come on here to have a go at Glen.

Here is an official definition of the place called Burnham

"Burnham is a village and civil parish that lies north of the River Thames in the South BucksDistrict of Buckinghamshire, on the boundary with Berkshire, between the towns ofMaidenhead and Slough."

I meant any casual fans who might watch Burnham could be tempted to watch us in our new ground. Same applies to any casuals who watch any of the other local sides I'm sure will pop along and who knows if they're impressed could become more regular?

If our new stadium gets built, gets over populated, and the admission/food prices then go through the roof.

My right as an old git, by then, may think it would be rather quaint and nice to watch the 'village' teams of Beaconsfield and Burnham of leafy Buckinghamshire in empty stadiums ! LOL !
