v Biggleswade

Lost five one, don't think we played that badly to be fair, think we were edging it in the first half but then they got two break away goals and it all changed.

Biggleswade are are very good side, well organised and as I said before Christ were they big, they were just knocking our players off the ball,a lot of teams are going to struggle against them.

Heads up guys its early days, onwards to Stratford.

To be fair if we had played really bad it wouldn't of been fun at all but.... We actually didn't play bad. They were just better and I know it's a piss poor excuse and not blaming the ref but he was 100% in their favor the whole game. Not singling out but warren Harris played his heart out he has only just come back from injury and played really well just a shame it didn't go our way

Wasn't expecting us to win but was hopeful of a draw especially playing on a decent pitch, at worst a defeat by the odd goal. Never entered my thoughts we'd get thumped like that, seems they were just a lot better than us, I hope they turn out to be one of the top teams!

What a shocker lucky could of lost by bigger margin all the goals from our errors school boy ones at that.

Not one was a well constructed goal made by Biggleswade .

The pitch looked a cracker to play on as well.

Paul Merson looking on with a big grin on his face as his son was a sub for them.

Must of been one of the worst games for Bakes and Unders.

A game to get out of the system early in the season just forget it and move on.

COYREBELS.

Watching from the commentary position allowed me to see just how dominant Biggleswade were all over the pitch, particularly between about 10 and 60 minutes. They were excellent, chasing and pressurising, the passing was accurate and they out muscled and out paced us everywhere.

We seemed in control at the start getting forward well, but their first came against the run of play then they were all over us. The 10 minutes after half time were just crazy, with several individual errors costing us.

I do, however, believe that once we switched to the 4 across midfield at 5-0 we looked more solid and could get forward and as a result we did get some more shots away and the goal. In the original 4-3-3 type lineup we had we were far too narrow and Biggleswade could just charge down the wings and attack the full backs (who in turn had very little support when they tried to get forward). Having someone in midfield on each wing made quite a difference.

One to forget on the pitch but lessons to be learned for Saturday. We move on.

Apologies to the many fans that made the trip last night, still in a state of shock if I am honest.

We actually started well and were causing them problems with Warren getting space and running at them, however 2 errors in the first half from Ryan (who rarely makes too many mistakes) and Callum (which will be a steep learning curve for him) completely changed the nature of the game.

We changed to a flat 4 for the second half yet found ourselves 5-0 down in a mad 6 minute spell, where I think 3 of the goals came from players slipping over at important times, and looked like we could be on the end of an even bigger drubbing.

Obviously at 5-0 they are playing with utter confidence, yet we still had a bit of a go, but at times like that it is difficult as you know the game is done.

Really disappointed with the goals, especially after the weekend just gone, however we will have Macca back for the weekend who we know will give us that experience that we went to get out in the summer.

Obviously not having 3 out of 4 centre halves did not help the cause last night.

But putting that aside, we have to learn from last night, and we will, we are only 2 games into a 46 league game campaign, and we will be looking to bounce back on Saturday.

I can't comment on the game, but I know that the players are really going to be feeling this defeat, especially the ones that had the individual mistakes.

All we can hope is that the players now think back on last night and analyse why certain things happen and look (in training) to put them right, which I know Jon and Neil will definitely be doing today.

With Gary Mac back, this should help shore us up at the back, and get us working as a team.

I have been really impressed with him and in my opinion is another Wooz in the way he plays and marshals.

Saturday is going to be a hard day against another team with full points, and we need the travelling fans to get behind the team vocally and show what we are... Slough Town supporters.

Tuesday is gone, learn, and move on

That is what I am doing after my Water pump blew up on me on the M25 whilst on route to the game.

We do too it was just a bad night at the office, we would have been sitting here a lot happier if we had what we deserved from the first 2 games which was 3 points, yet we only have the one.

However putting a positive slant on it, 2 years ago we picked up one point from our first two games and 4 from our first 4 games yet still got promoted ;)

I think its pointless to draw any conclusions from just 2 games. We may have been turned over last night by the runaway champions. Who knows? Surprisingly by 31st August just 23 days into the new season we will have played 7 league games Then we should know a lot more about ourselves and the other teams and be able to assess whether we need any fine tuning.
