FF News
Vanarama National League South club Gosport Borough have announced their new youth set-up for the coming season. A partnership between Gosport Borough, Gosport & Fareham Schools and Gosport Falcons. This is how the youth policy will work. Players who play for Gosport Falcons under-18 side in the Hampshire Youth Division 2 will be given an opportunity to progress up to the new under-21 Development side run jointly by Charlie Goulding and Terry Pike when it is felt they are ready to make the jump. The under-15 Gosport & Fareham Schools side from last season will play in the Junior Premier Under-16 league as Gosport Falcons. The boys will have an opportunity to progress into the Gosport Falcons Under-18 side, again when it is felt they are ready to make the jump up into senior Youth league. It is hoped that the squad will then go on to represent Gosport Borough Youth in the Hampshire Under-18 Youth league in season 2016/17. The current Gosport & Fareham under-15 side will stay together and play in the Junior Premier Under-16 league in season 2016-17. Again these youngsters will get the opportunity to play Under 18 side when they are ready. It is hoped to continue this pattern for the talented youngsters in the area in future seasons. All three sides under-21 Development side, under-18 and under-16 Gosport Falcons sides will wear the yellow and blue Gosport Borough kit and tracksuits. A sponsorship deal for these three sides is currently under discussion. Another benefit of the new setup has seen the Gosport Borough first-team squad and under-21 squad training at The Monckton Playing Fields during the pre-season so allowing Private Park to make a full recovery for the new season. Also the changing facilities at Monckton will also be improved. In summary this new youth set-up allows talented youngsters in the Gosport and Fareham area an opportunity to progress to play football for the area’s premier club in National League South and hopefully a higher level in the future.
