Vs Frome

Recommended Posts

Agree with most said on here.

Only thing I would add is that if we had played that game last season we would have not gained a point but would have lost the match and come away with nothing.

So on a very hard day to play competitive football, as seen by the mandatory drink breaks, they defended really well.

That game has now gone.

Lessons to be learnt and roll on Tuesday

Should have won on easy chances missed. So however you look at it 2 points lost.

Never understand these excuses about the pitch and weather, as its the same for both sides.Least we can rule out that often used mantra, all the sides in this league are strong, they plainly ain't.

It was the same on both sides, so with BOTH teams missing chances, and BOTH teams defending quite well, it ended as a 0-0

I didn't notice many clear cut chances missed by Frome but certainly 3/4 very good chances by us.

In fact I can only remember one half decent chance for Frome that was cleared after a bit of a goal mouth scramble.

To me Slough edged the game and had the better chances. In the second half, in particular, Slough were pushing for a winner. Frome seemed happy with a draw.

Good to see Adrian Sear get through 90 minutes. Hope he's ok for Biggleswade.

The injuries are beginning to mount up again !

3 out of 4 of our center backs seem to have some sort of injury and one is on holiday. Also Jake Parsons didn't look too great when he came off.

We've gone from hardly any to a list of injuries after one game.

no real dispute we should have won with the chances we had so left the game quite frustrated.

not to say we didn't have reason to be positive about some things especially how organised and solid our defence looked. 1 game on the road to having a much more effective season defensively although I am sure sterner tests are to come perhaps

decent debuts for the new signings and really hope the injuries we collected aren't too drastic otherwise the squad could be stretched already with the players already missing before yesterday

RR.

Pictures 63, 65, 92, 114 show at least four times our keeper had to be on his toes, and keep the ball out of the net.

When I'm working at the game, I have to see the game as a complete outsider, and am analysing what is happening, and what is most probably going to happen next, so it can be captured by the camera. If I watched the game as a fan, there would be no way I could get the photos I do. So for the 90 minutes I have to persuade myself there are just two teams out there playing, as much as a support our team.

So over the years, I have got to see games in a very black and white manner

Apart from a brief moment of pin table football in our penalty area in the first half, I thought we looked much improved defensively compared to last season. Having said that, and no disrespect to Frome intended, we are going to face sterner tests as the season progresses. I am going to try and resist sinking into a pit of misery and pessimism until we have completed the first six games.

Agree completely JB, two points dropped due to chances missed.

Weather and pitch were certainly not excuses from us as to why we didn't win. They were simply factors in why the game was maybe short on quality and not a great spectacle. It was the same for both sides but I think we handled it better as we created more clear chances. On another day we'd have taken 1 or 2 of them and be sitting here very happy with a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

HR, as in most cases photos can be interpreted in lots of different ways.

I think most will agree that we had 3 or 4 clear cut chances and Frome at best had some half chances.

We've gone from hardly any to a list of injuries after one game.

Craig Scott went straight for an x-ray after the game as all the signs pointed towards a fractured metatarsal. Thankfully this was not the case and it appears to be ligament damage only but he is still likely to be out for a month. Such a shame as he showed again what an excellent centre half he is yesterday alongside Guy who also played extremely wel.

Jake jarred his knee and was in a lot of discomfort when he came off. We are still waiting to find out if there is any serious damage but we are hopeful this is not the case. We'll have a better idea over the course of this week but we have already counted him out for Tuesday.

Billy will do a fitness test himself on his knee tomorrow to see if he can be an option for us on Tuesday.

Great to see Warren back playing and Scott has to be in giving those defences a hard time and no rest.

RR I.m with HR  Scott made a couple of vital saves and saved our teams blushes for not putting those clear cut chances away.
