Sponsored Walk in aid of the Stroke Association

On Friday 18th September I will be undertaking a sponsored walk with four others from mum's stroke club along the Thames from Henley to Tilehurst.

As you know, my mum is wheelchair bound having had a stroke..

What you might not know is that it was a major stroke and it was back in 1999, so she has now had 16 years in her wheelchair with the whole of her right hand side incapacitated and also with a major speech impediment.

The stroke club has been great for her, as it gets her out of the house, and doing a lot of activities she wouldn't usually do, like river cruises, stroking birds of prey, amongst lots of other things.

Also the Stroke Association has had a very big impact with how people can recover from strokes. In 1999 my mum was given a 30% chance of surviving and a 20% chance of recovering movement and speech.

Now that has gone up to around 60% survival rate and an equally high chance of recovering movement and speech as well, from such major strokes.

So please try and visit the Just Giving page that has been set up and donate to this really good cause :  https://www.justgiving.com/Antonietta-Brienza1/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=Antonietta-Brienza1&utm_campaign=pfp-share

Thanks in advance

Gary
