Certainly agree that when he attacked players Chris Henry was exciting to watch but without the ball he didn't do a lot, maybe a bit like a Darren Wheeler?

Could you play Chris Henry, Jake Parsons and Warren Harris in the same team?

Plenty to excite the fans but would it be a winning team?

Well we knew the decision might not prove to be too popular as you all liked what Chris gave us at the back end of the season, however I will back mine and Unders judgement like we have done on numerous occasions over the last 5 years together.

And I will give you a few reasons why.

Not blowing our own trumpets but in 2 seasons at Slough and 3 at Godalming we have released a number of players from the old guard to players that we have brought in, and on many occasions we have been told we are making the wrong decision etc (I remember one comment from Graham and I know he wont mind me saying this, that when we released Ollie Burgess for Leigh Rumbold it was utter madness, however one month later Ollie was no longer playing football and Rummy helped turn our season around) however our record in players going has not really come back and bitten us on the bum, with the only one who really went on and played at a higher level was Alex Brown for the season at Chesham when we were in Southern Central, however every other decision has seen players either fade away, stay at the level or drop down the leagues.

I would say Reece Yorke may come back one day at a higher level, as he does have very good qualities, however in the main the decisions we have made have been proved right.

In regards to Chris Henry, yes he can beat a defender and create a goal, and I would not take that away from him and for that reason will be a fans favourite, however ask the K's boss why they released him, and he will tell you for the same reasons as we have, whilst he can look a world beater he can sometimes flatter to deceive, and in a tough league you need everyone putting in a shift, and his defensive duties were in our opinion not good enough (and by that I mean tracking the full back and not leaving us over exposed down one side) And these are things that we have told Chris.

I think 3spirit mentions we will be a poorer team to watch, well I am sorry you can not tell me Jake Parsons and Warren Harris are boring to watch, also alongside the likes of our strikers.

One of the things we had to improve on this year was defensively, and that does not just mean a whole host of new defenders, it means tightening up all over the pitch, which we believe we are doing.

Now we like Chris as a lad, but another problem we have had with him since he joined the club is his time keeping, he is always late to training either forcing us to wait for him or start without him, and in the games he has played in I only remember once or twice when he was on time, this was another factor in our decision, and one we relayed to him today.

Last night in the first half we played without wingers, and we played some excellent football against a good team, in fact Steve King the Whitehawk manager was at the game, and was very impressed with us, so yes this decision has upset a few people, however it is one we have made, but in reality I think we have got some really exciting things to look forward to this season.

I thought I would post my comments, as I was going to do an interview tonight but John could not make it, however this is life as a football manager, and not every decision will be popular, but I do not believe either myself or Jon will look back on this decision as a wrong one, and if we do then even the best managers make mistakes, and we are nowhere near the best ;)

I would say thanks for clearing things up Bakes but I now live in fear of being accused by a certain person of butt kissing

Well Neil that told us lol x

We all know Alex and Danny Murphy were favs of mine but you and Jon make the decisions and so far all good.

Do think Reece could bite you on the bum though, but then I can't have all my favourites playing can I x

You could Sue but we'd have a squad of about 130

Being truthfully honest, we are not sure what will happen with Adam Nditi at present (as Farnborough are trying to sign him and he lives in Basingstoke), but it is not something we are actively looking at: We have played Jake throughout pre season from the left with a couple of spells on the right, and we really like him there, plus him and Warren can both interchange:

We currently have plenty of options for 4 places, in Jake, Warren, Gurkan (when fit) Clurgy, Nathan, Searsy, Ad Martin, Ben Ed and also either Callum or Sean can play advanced, whether that is with a holding player and 3 in front, a diamond, or a flat 4 with 2 out and out wingers (which in the past we have favoured) however more and more sides play with a 3 in midfield and therefore means you sometimes have to be a bit more compact.

Lewis Putman is also another potential option from the left if needed as he grew up playing there, you also have the option of a front 3, so plenty of options, and as so many players are interchangeable it gives us real flexibility.

Personally I would have switched this season to a 4-5-1 formation with Chris and Warren as the wingers with Smith or Putman rotating as the main striker. It would have eased the defensive burden on Chris and Warren and allowed them to provide a predominantly attacking threat.

Have to say very disappointed with getting rid of Chris Henry (though with what bakes mentioned about time keeping that is a huge factor and understand why you would lose a player like that).

For me Chris was one of the nailed on starters, against hayes and yeading (the best team we played pre season) he showed exactly what he could do. In 45 mins he shredded their defence and they couldn't find any kind of answer.

We are light on wingers and with Warren having not even completed 90 mins so far ( I think) it would have been best to keep him for up to 10 games to allow warren to come back in fully fit.

Adam Nditi wasn't particularly convincing last night, he never knew what he wanted to do once he was in the final third and I can't remember one time when he didn't lose the ball in the final third.

Compare than to Henry or Parsons who have always known when they were going to take on the defender or cross and then done it well.

The managers are the ones paid to make these decisions and at the end of the day no ones opinions matter other than there's.

Sorry Martin but don't see the logic in a 4-5-1 with the squad we have and that formation is too negative to be played throughout the season. Jake Parsons is our best winger currently,in fact he's now the only regular one that is here and fit !

As good as Wazza is, we've got to give him time to get back to his best.

Some of us fans have rubbed Bakes up the wrong way by our comments on Chris Henry's leaving but we're all feeling raw with it.

For all Chris's faults, we will miss his pace and forward movement getting at the oppostion's defenders, regardless, but if our managers can find us a suitable replacement/ livewire with pace on the left, then all will be forgiven ! :D

Obviously we didn't know the backstory of Chris Henry. And managers have to do what they seem fit with their knowledge. But have to agree with the general consensus that Chris was superb tail end of last season and feel he gave us something new and exciting. Good luck Chris I'm sure you will do a great job for someone.
