Friendly v Wealdstone

Recommended Posts

Bit of a blow not having Gary MacDonald for two games at the start of the season especially given that he is going to be such an influential player for us. Not ideal preparation.

Bakes or Unders, is Wes Harrison staying with the squad for the league games or is he still just helping out?

Two advantages we have got tonight, is that Wealdstone's first choice keeper Jonathon North and left back cum winger Dale Binns were both unfortunately injured on Saturday and will be missing.

Bit of a bummer for those like me, who want to watch the best players play but should be a bonus for Slough's attacking play,as Wealdstone will definitely be weaker without those two in the team.

Well, that was a massive improvement by all the players tonight. Can't believe how fit Craig Scott looked.

Did you have inside information on this, Reading Rebel?

He and Billy had good steady games. Nice to see Searsy back on the field of play, too.

New left wing option Adam Whathisname caught the eye with his speed and control and had a promising debut.Wonder if we can keep him?

Very impressive team performance tonight against a good Conference South team.

Some of our football in the first half was a pleasure to watch and we thoroughly deserved our 2-0 half-time lead.

Wealdstone had the better of the second half but again some very good defending coupled with 2 or 3 top class saves from Mark Scott kept the score at 2-0.

Difficult to single out any individuals in what was essentially a team performance but in his first game for a while I thought Craig Scott was excellent at the back.

Also continue to be impressed with Lewis Putman's work-rate in putting their back-line under constant pressure and deserved a goal tonight.

It was always going to be difficult to pick a starting 11 for Saturday but after tonight it just got a lot harder.

It is unfortunate about Gary but as we all know this is one of the pitfalls of non league/non contract players. Gary may well have young children and can only go away during the school holidays and missing the first two is probably the least damage.

That is exactly the case Glen... and something we knew about when we signed him, funnily enough talking to Gordon tonight, and he has the same problem in missing players for these particular reasons, is the nature of the beast these days.

In terms of Wes, he has actually done a really good job for us pre season, and keeps himself fit, we have signed him on a form, and he will form part of the squad as and when he is needed, is good to have someone like him who we can call upon.

Bakes,what's the news on Guy?

Hoping he will be OK, he has a slight niggle, so no need to risk him tonight.

We should be in pretty good shape going into Saturday.

Also Eddie was not injured, his hamstring tightened up, hence why we took him off straight away.

Well what a class goalkeeper we have in Mark Scott those two saves made during the game showed he could save and gain us extra valuable points in the league campaign over the season top notch.

I think most would put family, work, football in that order of priorities (note not preference!) so of course family time in the summer will get in the way of a 'hobby' it's always been this way so one should be surprised about it, yes of course it's not ideal but we are blessed with many options at centre back so 2 games isn't a major issue.
