met police friendly

Looks like we're going to be up against old friends, Johnny Dyer and Reece Yorke and possibly Jake Somerville on Tuesday, which should spice up the proceedings somewhat.

Hope to make the game. as Met Police will be good test for Slough. Keen to see Billy Crook play, too, as  been impressed with some of his YouTube performances !

Although Met Police have lost a few of their accomplished players for this season, they always seem to cobble a good side together, whatever, which shows they've obviously got a clever manager at the helm. So let's hope it's a good workout and contest to watch.

No Craig Scott either. As he's been out since January, can't see him being anywhere near ready for August/September games.

Will he be loaned out to prove his fitness, Bakes or Unders, or would you rather keep him in the camp,so to speak?

Craig tweaked his groin as per last week, and wont be available until Wealdstone game, in terms of what happens with him, then obviously he has not had a lot of pre season, so might need to get a few games early part of the season, but we have liked what we have seen from him so far.

Finished 2-1 to Slough, Putman and ?????

Fairly even game with slough dominant at the beginning and end of the match and Met police dominant in the middle.

Putman opened the scoring early in the first half when collecting a through ball behind the defence and taking the ball round Sommerville to tap in from a tight angle. Met police equalised mid way through the second half from a header at the pack post from a deep cross. Slough's second goal was either by Ed Smith or S Harris or possibly and own goal, nobody was really sure. Henry had beaten two players out wide before passing to N Webb who tapped it across to Ed Smith in space on the edge of the 6 yard box, Ed took his time then not really sure what happened as Harris and Smith were both standing near the ball but neither of them seemed to kick it as it went towards goal and somehow went in.

Ryan Parsons had strapping around his right calf and Warren Harris had ice on his knee, neither of them hobbled off or looked in much pain so hopefully it is more precautionary than anything.

If we play like this against ascot we should have trouble and could win by a large margin.

Twitter reported that Sommers was nut-megged by Putts for our first and Scott Harris scored our second after a cross from Callum Webb.

On the goal we conceded, from memory one of our frailties last season was conceding from far post crosses.

Have to say it was a great cross into the box, and very little could be done defensively IMO for their goal.... also both Parso and Warren were taken off as a precaution... Parso had a knock to his calf, and Warren just felt tight around the knee, so did not want to take any chances.

Thoroughly enjoyable friendly to watch, with Jake Parsons having another blinder. Beginning to get a clearer picture on who's likely to start against Frome.

Quite a few Slough players caught the eye tonight but for me JP and Guy Hollis were the pick of the bunch.

Is Ascot game a 12 o'clock kick off?

It is a midday kick off, as that was what we requested, as we have planned a team bonding afternoon together after the game.

Adrian Sear was missing last night, presume it was work-related. Given that Adam Martin and Adrian need game time will both start against Ascot?

I know our managers prefer a 4-4-2 shape but wouldn't Saturday's game be worth trying a 3-5-2,given the opposition and the personnel available. I'm only mentioning it, as I would like to see Hollis,MacDonald and Jefferys together at the back, and with Ryan Parsons looking a doubt after last night's game,it would also be an ideal time to see a wing back system with perhaps Sean Fraser and Callum Webb filling in.

Also would help with having a three man centre midfield.

Not looking to tell the managers how to do their job, honest ! :)  Just a thought from last night's proceedings.
