Burnham Ramblers 3 Enfield Town FC 4

Recommended Posts

It was one of those championship types of deciding games and Burnham were definitely up for it. They came out and then had to go back in for they were wearing the wrong socks! Lee Smith went close hitting the post in the opening minutes. Burnham then played their socks off for the next hour scoring two goals a not letting town get a shot in.

The fans were restless and frustrated. It was 15 minutes into the second half when Ian Cooper got to the by-line and made a cross for Billy Cove to trap and Nail in the roof of the net. 2 – 1 game very much on! Close on its tail came a looping header past the keeper from David Allen 2 – 2.

Burnham broke again and scored. 3 – 2. Then the town attacked again Ian Cooper was well onside but the lino gave offside. Ian Cooper attacked again and as he did so the defender steered the ball away with his hand. No Penalty! It looked like it wasn’t to be our night. Ian Cooper charged again and this time he was adjudged to have been brought down PENALTY. Billy Cove nailed it. 3 – 3.

The fans went wild as much with relief after a dismal first hour.

Town attacked again and this time it fell beautifully for David Allen who absolutely nailed it! 3 – 4. Town fans erupted.

We’d used one of Billy the Cat’s nine lives and we knew it!

“Can David Allen play like this every week? Can David Allen play like this every week?”

Brad Quinn and their no 9 were both sent off for using handbags!

penalty looked more like one of there defenders holding billy the cat from the "refs" pointing and gesture, but who cares it was scored.

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but I reckon yesterday's referee (name unfortunately unknown) was even worse than Tuesday's. Anyone agree? At Bedfont the ref was a clueless Hitler who ruined the game, but at least he kept control. Yesterday the man in black couldn't even manage that!

Yeah.....on 3 occasions Burnham players challenged, with studs up...The ref only penalised 1 of those tackles and didn't book anyone.

Bradd Quinn in the second-half,puts in a similar tackle ,kicks the ball 20 yards.....but the ref books him for studs-up....Ahhhh.

I don't think Quinn is in good form at the moment...I thought Nash should have come on,once he got booked.

I feel Quinn needs to take heed of Brothertons change of approach this season, and copy it.

We are also missing Brothertons influence in defence....Maybe,once Ridout and Geraghty are back in contention,he will revert back.

We still need to sought the left-side out...Baldwin is never a left-back.

th ref on one of the studs up challenges by a burnham player agreed with our players protests about it,but said he was going for the ball, surely going for the ball in a dangerous maner IS an offence?

As Freebird would say 'whats it got to do with a supporter from another club'.

But i wouldn't mind a PM off someone who was in the bar at the time ,telling me what 'actually' happened,if anything.

So you've gone to Freebird's level when you don't want to answer a legitimate question ?
