FA Cup - Hornchurch 0 Tranmere Rovers 1

A good crowd and a great atmosphere and the ground looked terrific with the stands at both ends.

Those of you who tune into MOTD tonight will probably see the following. You'll see Gavin McGowan volleying narrowly over in the 10th minute and Vinnie John scoring what looked like a perfectly good goal in the 23rd minute only for it to be disallowed by the referee. Then you'll see Tranmere go up the other end and nick a goal through Gary Jones. John Keeling will leave the defence standing (again) in the 31st minute and beat Tranmere keeper John Achterberg with a great effort only to see it hit the post. You'll then see the referee penalise Achterberg for handling a backpass which was never a backpass and with Steve West cueing up a thunderbolt from the 6 yard line he'll minimize the advantage by moving the ball 3 yards forward.

After the obligatory aerial view of the ground/zoom out from a local landmark (maybe the windmill)/shots of groups of fans generally enjoying themselves/someone in a comical hat or someone standing in the freezing cold without a shirt on to mark the transition between first and second halves you'll probably see Gavin McGowan shooting wide virtually straight from the kick-off. You'll see Bradley Allen and Lloyd Opara come on for Danny Kerrigan and Adam Locke followed by a couple of close misses from Opara. You might then see Tranmere have their second or third chance on goal when a header hits the crossbar after which you'll see Vinnie John daring to go to ground after being brought down in the area in the dying minutes followed by the referee giving a free kick to Tranmere in the penalty area and booking Vinnie John for diving. Hmmmmm.

Well done to Tranmere and good luck in the next round.

Take a look at the names below. We are proud of them and they deserved more from today.

Line-up:- Gay, Gooding, Kerrigan (Allen 56), Adedeji, West, Locke (Opara 56), J Martin, John, McGowan, Graham. Subs not used:- Southon, Rowland, Collier (GK).

Errrm

As a Trannie, I'd love to disagree.

But cannot!

Perfect summation (apart from the fact that I can't remember us doing anything in the second half!).

Thanks for a good one, and please make up for today by getting promoted.

Thanks for making me smile...I think you'll be spot on - TV and the league bosses only have time for big names - or at least big names that were... 30 years ago.

If you keep up the effort, I'm sure you'll get promoted.

"as a trannie you have to disagree". Sad person. wasn't that long ago we were nearly in non-league... tranmere can do without miserable, short sighted supporters, in my opinion. It's a game for crying out loud. and Hornchurch played well, period.
