Looking at the timetable construction will commence this September. Let's hope this next meeting is the final tick box! My dad and all the other Rebels not with us any more will be estatic and I know he'll have a massive smile on his face with this news, just personally so sad that he can't be here to experience it...

The below is taken from the council's website from the meeting that took place on Monday,  it appears next Tuesday is the BIG day.

"That the development of the CSF be recommended for approval by Full Council on 21st July 2015"

RR I'll be very surprised if construction started a week after full approval? I'm going to look again...

When I heard this project was costing £8.4M I presumed it was the entire site including the school. But I was wrong just the stadium alone is projected to cost £8.4M, which is a lot more than I expected. The sports hall (which will host the hospitality/directors areas before the main stand is built) is costing another £3.4M. See the figures in the below link (hint, hint RR!).

Thanks Glen.

The way I read it, we are looking at a mid October start, with the construction finishing mid June, and the 3g pitch being laid mid June to end of August. That could present an issue with starting the season.

Phase two would be from April to February.

Hopefully they'd amend the pitch finish deadline so it's ready for the start of the season or it may be a case of playing the first few matches away from home. So phase 1 will see us play in a 3 sided ground which I would imagine will consist of covered terraces both ends and a 250 seater stand on one side (in front of the sports hall, which will act as a temporary clubhouse). The main stand and clubhouse will then take another 44 weeks to construct although reading the councils report the design/layout is still subject to change and isn't finalised yet. Once fully complete we'll probably have too many seats, so I'm guessing the seats in phase 1 may just be temporarily bolted onto the terrace to meet criteria? It does also state that this stadium can be upgraded to 'A' (Conference Prem).

As I said the Construction programme ( phase 1) according to the schedule, is due to begin on 28th July.

It looks like 'Design and Procurement' (whatever that means) will be the first step.

It'll be great when Steve Easterbrook can officially let us all know for definite what's happening.

Yes but we're talking about actual building work RR not the D&P. I'm sure we'll get a full statement on or shortly after Tuesday.

I know you are Glen but I was talking about the construction programme   ;)

As you say the sooner we can get confirmation and all the details from Steve the better.

I believe Stoke Road will become a similar state to 'Wembley way' so you will be on the corner of Shaggy calf lane competing for pries with the other sellers :)

'pries' ?

Pukka Pies ?

You'd be surprised at just how quickly contractors will want to get on the job after full Council approval.

We've had the same problem in Dorking with the Council taking their time in chewing the fat and the contractors champing at the bit to get on with it.

Congratulations anyway !
