The idea behind phase 1 and 2 is that with only 12 months till the start of next season, the council wants the playing area and all the FA requirements in place for the 2016 season , it would be too much of a rush job to get the main stand and facilities built at the same time.

Do you all read it as all systems go/green light has finally been given OR is there still tape/hurdles/meetings to go through? Suppose we need confirmation from Steve to be sure as he is the only person who'll know.

I am sure that once Steve has the facts from the council and they are signed and sealed then he will make a statement.

Phase one will include building a four court sports hall, 3G pitch and car park, where Slough Town Football Club could play their home games.

Phase two includes the construction of the main stand.

"We are looking to have the first phase completed by August 2016 so Slough Town Football Club will be able to use the football ground in time for the 2016/17 season," said Alison Hibbert, leisure strategy manager at Slough Borough Council.

"We are aware time scales are very, very tight so we want to get started.

"This development is not just about the ground, it will also be used by the community of Slough as well.

"Especially those living in the nearby area where inactivity is very high."

To ensure the football pitch meets the Football Association’s criteria, the facilities will include a terrace with a minimum of 250 seats on the east side of the pitch and the stadium will house just under 2,000 spectators.

”The new community sports facility is one of our key foundation facilities for our emerging leisure strategy which is designed to ensure we have excellent leisure facilities for the next generation and beyond,” said Cllr Martin Carter, commissioner for community and leisure.

“By offering this multi-purpose facility we will be able to provide new and innovative leisure pursuits whilst also delivering on our promise of bringing Slough Town home.

“Our phased approach allows us to get the right operator involvement at the earliest stages while ensuring we move this project forward swiftly.

“At its heart, this new development delivers on our aspirations of delivering new and exciting infrastructure designed to inspire more people to be more active, more often.”

Members also approved the work to refurbish Orchard Community Centre so The Creative Academy can be relocated from its current home at the West Wing Arts Centre on the Arbour Park site and create a new grass pitch for St Joseph’s Secondary School.

Phase 1 will give us a ground that is graded at our current level, the only thing missing will be the main stand, as in the main seating area behind the main building with all the facilities (changing rooms, hospitality, etc.).

There will be seats, but at the east side, and not at the main stand area until the second season.

So it will be a proper ground minus a few seats, when initially built

The press statement does say FA Grade C and FIFA two star pitch standards which has to have covered standing and seating.

Best to wait until an actual statement is released that says exactly what will be in phase 1 from the STFC point of view, as well as the wider community side.

The problem with written press statements is that they are written so that people can read it in multiple ways

Just to echo what Tom has said and I said earlier, as soon as there are any concrete details that effect us as a club then Steve will make a statement.

I'm sure there will be a lot of discussions and healthy debate which is only right and to be expected, but we need to not jump to any conclusions without the facts that I'm sure Steve will provide those when the time is right.
