Farnborough v Slough Town PSF

Reading the two posts immediately above, I would guess then, that Farnborough ARE struggling to recover from their problems.

Thanks Glen and 'Rebel'.

Pretty routine in the end.

Management team showed their class carrying the injured Farnborough played off on a stretcher whilst Spencer Day just sat there.

Interesting.  Better that I don't comment on that except that it  'speaks volumes'.

I have been following the whole Farnborough situation closely for the best part of a couple of seasons.  None of what is going on there affects me directly.

What I will say is, to use that old quote 'There is definitely something rotton in the state of Denmark !'

Read into that what you will.

Good run out for our first friendly.

Impressed with the first view of our new signings.

Mark Scott looked impressive and imposing in goal and had the longest kick I've seen for a while.

Macca was solid and impressive alongside Wooz.

Nathan and Callum Webb had good games in the full back positions. I certainly hope that Callum Webb wants to sign because he looked a class player.

Also liked the look of Lewis Putman who's work-rate was excellent.

Early days and bigger tests to come but overall an impressive start.

Very comfortable win today.

The new signings all looked decent, the keeper has got one hell of a kick.

Macdonald scored the first from a corner, Ben Edwards showed some great pace to get in behind for the second (though it only went in thanks to a deflection from the keeper), Third goal was a penalty from Ed Smith and the fourth was a very cheeky tap in on the line, after stopping the ball just short, again by Ed Smith.

Farnborough were very clearly building a team from scratch and just taking a look at potential players, every time they made a sub players had to change position.

No injuries for us though Wooz was caught off guard when his shot rebounded off the defender and back into his face.

There will be much harder games to come and we will be tested more.

Great pace Ben Ed? are you sure

Well done Rebels there stadium looks fantastic can we have one please.

I saw Swindon Supermarine play Paulton a lively game ended 1-1 Paulton missed a pen player went to goalie,s right Neil.

They then scored with a free kick twenty yards out up and over the wall just inside the post goalie had no chance.

Supermarine came back in second half scored with there own pen had some good chances to win game after that.

You can never tell as it was only a friendly but Paulton were nothing special Neil and Jon.

Won 4-0 very comfortably against to be fair poor opposition. We were in first gear and never had to up it playing mainly a team of trialists of whom none impressed. The playing surface was in top condition and we did enough without breaking a sweat on a warm afternoon. IMO Big Mac, Mark Scott and Callum Webb impressed. There was panic on the sidelines when sub N. Baker had to quickly warm up but after a few yards broke down absolutely knackered and his long awaited return will have to wait just that little while longer...

TBF Bakes eyes lit up when Wooz went down injured and really looked quite sharp over the first 5 yards

Their Stadium was impressive. Sadly the really important bits are not.

I was going to say that RR no good having a fab stadium with no team and club structure see you at the Burnham game.

I thought the team and newbies gelled quite well for a first outing, and with a string of players missing. There are lots of positives we can take forward to the next friendlies and into the actual season.

Just been on the Farnborough site and forum to see if there is any news on the player that seemed to break his leg, but there's no news yet. The ambulance was just arriving as I was leaving.

There's a few people on there stating how well Kev and our bench did during that injury making sure that he was seen to and taken safely off the pitch, and how their management just watched on, and then asked how much injury time was to be played.

I hope he's going to be OK, that looked a very serious injury

Good runout and fair result

Thought Callum Webb was excellent always finding time and space and hitting only one bad pass ---Wooz looked like he had never been away so the back line looked good despite the combined age of the two centre backs.

Nice to see Warren get some game time tho he clearly needs matches to get back to his best-----Jake Parsons work rate was fantastic as usual and encouraging to see Ed get a couple to get him in the mood for tougher times to come.

Gary MacDonald was skipper.........is that role his now ?

The highlight for me at yesterdays game was our new stream-lined manager, although I've lost an affinity with him now he's not in the tubbies camp. :D

I thought our best player was Dave Woozley ! Perhaps Wooz would be a good signing and captain material for Farnborough !

As mentioned their stadium and pitch was excellent.Game itself was a typical first game run out in hot conditions and we won pretty easily albeit against weak opposition.

New keeper's kicking was good and Eddie Smith looked sharp and keen to impress, just wish he had cut the ball back to Lewis Putman who was in acre's of space on the edge of the penalty area and we should of then had a fifth goal to complete the rout.

On to the next one......

We've not made any firm decision on this as yet or spoken to any of the players about the role but we decided to give it to him yesterday and he's obviously a strong candidate.

Foulser is still our captain in many ways, a club captain as it's often referred to, but as his comeback is delayed we'll need someone else to wear the armband and will announce this later in pre-season once we've decided.

Just a small postscript.....................apparently the lad who got injured was a triallist and suffered a broken ankle. Also Spencer Day apparently told 8 of those who played that day to not bother coming back again !

So it would appear there are definitely problems, then !!

I think in our first preseason friendly after demotion from the conference we played four quarters and used forty four players. We won our first game of the season one nil against the eventual run away champions
