rebelade
I see that the Combined Counties league kicks off on a Friday night this season and was wondering if we could try this at Slough. I know you need the opposition to agree but we do have a few teams within 1hr30 in distance. Some teams have tried this when England have played on a Saturday and had some success . Your views? GlenSTFC
Sure we've had this discussion a few times before and it was pretty split. I'm all for trying it just to see if it makes a difference BUT only once we're back in Slough, be pointless trying it at HP.
Reading Rebel
I'm sure the odd game on a Friday would be OK if we thought our attendance would suffer because of say an England game on the Saturday. But then I'm sure it would be dictated by how far the opposition would have to travel on a Friday night.
redwine rebel
Agree with Eddie, very occasionally on a Friday, but Saturday is for football Not sure it would suit player's either, working on a Friday then playing a game. I know they do this on a Tuesday but again only occasionally. Also think of when the weather gets bad, think a Saturday afternoon might be more enticing than a cold Friday evening. staines_rebel_Jr
personally think playing on a Friday wouldn't be beneficial at least not until we are back in slough. I think if possible we should try to avoid playing on the same nights midweek that champions league is being shown on ITV. so moving any Tuesday night matches which would clash to a Wednesday if possible. Not sure if the manages would agree as they would probably want to give the players a days rest before training on Thursday nights.
epicrebel
There is European football Wednesdays and Thursdays. Can't do Mondays. So Tuesdays it is.
HorshamRebel
One of the main problems with a Friday is that the rush hour is much worse which would mean that both the home players and fans could be very late and the opposition would have to set out quite a bit earlier. Also at the moment we are not in a good situation regarding public transport as some of the bigger clubs that do have successful Friday games. Mr Rebel
European football is all moving to BT Sport now anyway i believe so could help us on Tuesday games attendance wise

Stuntman Mark
As a Tottenham fan, I thought you'd be an expert on the Europa cup. I'd certainly be up for the odd Friday night game if and when we get the ground sorted.
Mr Rebel
Surely not the Champions League? or is it the Europa?ITV made a montage of the best of their 20 year coverage or whatever at end of champs league final so definitely champs league. Not sure about if all Europa EDIT - both exclusive on BT http://sport.bt.com/sport-football/news/bt-sport-exclusive-uk-home-of-the-champions-league-and-europa-league-from-201516-S11363983336861
A Rebel and a Saint
I believe BT will have all of the champions league, and at least some of the Europa League (not sure), but a certain proportion will be free to air I think. Not sure on Friday night football, it might work once we get back into Slough but until then I don't think it's a good plan.

Just checked and you are right, BT have exclusive coverage of the champions league but they have to create a new free to air channel on which it will show a minimum of 12 matches. These would be the dates to try to avoid clashing with if possible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33062532
HorshamRebel
BT will be covering the Champions League in 4K. The first 4K game on BT will be the Charity Shield (or whatever they are calling it this season)

rebelade
I wasn't saying play a lot of games on a Friday night but as an example ,lets take home game vs Dunstable- not going to bring a big away support no matter what day we play- there close to an hour away. If advertised correctly, any shortfall in Saturday fans could be made up by ground hoppers. What about asking MYFC/Supporters trust to raise money for Anil to run a coach thru Slough picking up supporters .

Brighton on holiday
Im a bit of a 3pm Saturday traditionalist similar to the executives at Sky, but nothing wrong with thinking outside the box to attract new punters. A couple of seasons back me, Sue & Aiden went to see Flackwell Heath on a Friday night FA Cup game. They got 3 times their usual crowd so it can work with a bit of planning. redwine rebel
Bloody hell Warren had forgotten that was a Friday evening. One of my favourites Jon Case was playing, yes it was a good turnout. Sue
