Five New Rebels!

Recommended Posts

Is Nathan Webb seen more as a midfielder or full back? Appreciate versatility is a big plus when operating with a small ish squad but just wondered if he has a preference or the managers have a particular role in mind?

Like the sound of the signings and think it gives the squad good balance. If we can turn Chris Henry into a permanent signing too that would be fantastic.

If you don't know the budget or how close we are to the max then you don't know if by bring in that great player at the cost he will demand, that there will have to be a balancing of the books with players we want to keep, having to go.

We all know what YOU want, but this is the real world that has consequences when you go big. ;)

He prefers midfield but is happy to play either. With Sean and Guy, our other right back options, both away for the first few friendlies he will probably start pre-season in that role.

Was your last post to me,HR?

If it was, then you are right,I haven't a clue what Slough's budget is. I'm only talking from how I view the squad and who may have been available.

I'm well aware that we're not going to sign John Terry or the non-league equivalent ! but that doesn't mean that I have to fall for the hype !

Nobody's asking Slough to go bankrupt !

I think wages wise it would be unrealistic to think we could afford any Maidenhead players unless as it's been said we bring in one top player but have to release 3 or 4 to fund it.

Perhaps that is true,as Bakes at one time was interested in some Maidenhead players but obviously hasn't been able to get any for whatever reason.

Such is life.

I think I've become the panto villain on here especially to Horsham Rebel and a few others ! LOL ! Bring back Hotspur !

Ha ha all is forgiven ;-)

In all seriousness we are very happy with the signings, their is a 15 minute audio going out later today, which talks a bit more about them etc plus the players returning from injury, we are also still keeping an eye on one or two developments.

Welcome to our 5 new signings.

Potentially some really exciting signings.

Looking forward to seeing them all play in a Rebels shirt, in particular Craig Scott as, from what I can gather, every club he's played for he's been very highly thought of.

Also looking forward to seeing Lewis Putman show us the talent that he undoubtedly possesses.

Saw Maidenhead enough times last season to know that any of their discarded players aren't that special. The decent ones are still there as far as I know, although Danny Green has gone to Margate. Who's to say they would want to drop to Step 3 anyway?!

Happy with our Managers' decisions, COYR!!

As has been said, at Maidenhead, the good players who wanted to stay have stayed and the remainingood players have been snapped up by other Conference clubs.

Do we really want players who are not wanted at a club that narrowly avoided relegation?

Well there is one particular player that I thought that we may have been able to prise away, that would be a good signing for us.

If it's to be,it's to be,if it's not,it's not.

As was pointed out by Bernie Gogan, Maidenhead wasn't the bee all end all last season but that means nothing on capturing individual players.I agree with others that I wouldn't break the bank for any of them but then again you may not have to.

After a good nights sleep, our five new signings look good on paper. Particularly interested to see this new keeper in action,at 6ft 4 and the teams he's played for,can fully understand now why Bakes and Unders have brought him in.

Just because you're big doesn't make you a great goalkeeper but if you're half decent, you can see immediately what rewards a larger GK can bring to a team,as Alex Gogic proved last season.

Well pleased with the acquisition of Lewis Putman. Cross our fingers that we can motivate him to fire on all cylinders.

What with the Harris's and the Parsons and now we have a pair of Scott's,not brothers but confusing.Good fun for who writes the team sheets ! ha ha !

Not really Stuart, it's just the way you put your comments, sometimes can be read in many ways, and I know you like a good debate/argument

Actually the truth is I love debates but hate arguments.

Believe it or not, I have trained as a mediator but on here sometimes I feel I can incite a riot ! ha ha !

As been said before,it's often the perceived version of someone's written words, which are often misconstrued out of the context to the way it was written in, that does the damage.

I never mean to cause offence.Just seem to have the uncanny knack to get people to bite!

This gift should be good for a forum ! :D

IMO there is no doubt that Lewis Putman has the ability to make a real statement this coming season.

As we all know ability alone is not enough and whether he makes it or not will be solely down to him.

Hopefully he will want to prove some people wrong and make a real go of it this season.

Really hoping Chris Henry stays.

Looked superb in the few games last season.

With Wazza,Jake Parsons and Chris Henry,we have trickery and pace to unlock defences.Add to that four good strikers and the few goals from our centre mid players and we should be in for some thrilling games.

Let's hope at the other end,we can shore up our defence,as this was our main problem last season.
