Field Of Dreams...

[Uncle Urchin]

I went to the ground at 4ish today after travelling back from the Midlands....the shadows of the stands spread across the pitch as the sun set behind the Riverside....

 

all the workmen had gone and the place was silent as darkness descended....

 

I walked the hallowed turf and I swear I could hear the urchin faithful...urging the boys onwards towards a famous victory....the noise was immense as it rolled down across the emerald green playing surface....

 

I felt the presence of the players and heard their shouts of encouragement to each other.........

 

I heard the band and the drums....I knew the pigs were around and the aroma of onions and hotdogs gently simmering wafted across the pitch....it wasn't real of course...all was silent but for a minute there I was in the middle of it all during the game...

 

the sun disappeared and darkness descended...but wait.....

 

I heard the big bird in the skies above....I looked up and he was real...looking down on his field...

 

an Urchin bird...urging us on to victory on his field....

 

our field....our field of dreams....

My nerves are shot to pieces already, & I need every little sign - no matter how silly. What the players & staff are going through I can begin to think.

 

I just wish them well.

Like Global, I'm a nervous wreck at the moment. Tomorrows game can't come soon enough.

 

Best of luck to all the plays and coaching staff. I'll do my best to make as much noise from the Riverside as poss.

Strangely I'm not nervous just excited..keep waking up early thinking about Saturday!!!. I just listened to the radio adverts they set the pulse rate going. Can't wait ....COME ON YOU 'CHINS!!!

I too went there today

 

I sat in all the stands

 

I thought of all past years

 

And then I thought, well damm and blast we are gonna do our best and try and win this tie.

 

Then I went up town and everyone was in unison

 

Cmon U Urchins!

 

THen I returned back to Urchins Country

 

and it was still the same
