michael
on paper looks like a stellar signing. as to be fair do a lot of the others-albeit i have hardly seen any of them play-and above as is-true to form-despite the late start TB and SC have got it sorted before the beach parade. the one player i have seen this year is Jolley-and on about 4 occasions. Some may know that i live in the land that is forest green and that in Jan-march -CJ was on loan at fgr before going to grimsby. (newport-to grimsby -via fgr-to margate-thats some route !!. Oh dear-he was not very good. made about ten appearances-albeit a lot as short lived sub. did not score-that does not matter-but never looked like scoring -or even getting anywhere near a scoring position (did miss one gilt edged opportunity-but everyone does that ) not quite sure where he plays-he is quickish, but not scintillatingly quick-can't quite see where he will fit in-lapado much better-based on what i have seen-and similarish type of players. it was a bit weird at fgr-his loan was extended to the surprise of many-and then the manager did not play him ! did not live up to his reputation, and frankly ,based on what i saw-he is ryman south at best. our current strikers have nothing to fear !! when at fgr there was also a big body language issue-looked like he did not give a hoot -maybe on loan you don't.-but did not endear him to supporters-nor i think the manager. (newport forum was also full of attitude issues ).not sure how it went at grimsby-but after initial outings,i recall he did not make their team-albeit i think he was a sub in the play off final.i do recall an article in the NLP when he joined grimsby-extolling his qualities as the man to take grimsby to the play offs i suspect TB has not taken a recent reference form Ady Pennock-maybe he is not the one season wonder he was of 3 seasons ago? that all given-deep down he obviously is a good player-and us supporters only see whats going on on the surface-to be fair to CJ-maybe he had injury/personal/ manager problems not of his doing and that was diminishing his performance..TB and SC know the player-the player knows himself. They speak of him glowingly-and they know better than me. hopefully,TB and SC get the best out of him,and CJ genuinely revives his career at Margate.i simply comment on what i saw on the surface. deep down there must be a good player in there. -its a fresh start for him. I want the guy to do well obviously-both because he is now a margate player, and above all for himself. i hope TB can bring the deep lying good stuff out of him,and the rubbish thats been around him for the last two seasons has been a temporary glich, and he is not signed on past glories. social media can be wicked-i sympathise with the players-but its their choice ,and agreed the above does not place CJ in glowing colours-but what little do i know-and again-as above-It seems to work for him under TB and SC so i really hope it does this time for all 3 of them-and CJ in particular-and he shows what must be his true capabilities and an eager attitude.fresh start-i wish him well. Blackz
Nothing like slating the guy before he's even pulled on a Margate shirt... Incidentally, what Newport forum did you stumble across remarking on his apparent attitude issues? The Newport forum I read had fans there with nothing but good things to say about him (link included here) http://www.weareexiles.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37236
michael
you are absolutely right blackz-that is exactly 'nothing like slating the guy'-though others have.i i simply report on facts as observed on the limited game time he got at FGR. as i said-one only sees 10% of whats going on-the other 90% beneath the surface-we have no idea. by his own admission- in his article in the NLP when he joined grimsby-it did not exactly work out well for him at fgr. we do not know why. again-as i state-there obviously is a player of pedigree in there-and i remain hopeful that as they have done before-TB and SC bring the beast out of him aga the security of a two year perm contract should help whilst i accept that languid is a style of some players-and it works for them-you don't have to be a energy sapping dervish to impress, and i don't buy into this players aren't trying nonsense-all players try-but at FGR Christians body language did leave something to be desired, and i think peer players and manager alike would have liked him to tryjust a little bit harder;although again to be fair-ady pennock did not give him that much opportunity anyway. hopefully the fault of others and not the player himself, and he is rekindled at margate. i wish him well
I am Spartacus
Nothing like slating the guy before he's even pulled on a Margate shirt... The Newport forum I read had fans there with nothing but good things to say about him (link included here) http://www.weareexiles.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37236 So someone comes on here and gives an honest opinion of a player he saw play last season. OK it was negative but knowing Michael as I do it was an honest appraisal as he does not have an axe to grind about any player (except Robin Trott). But hey no lets keep our blue tinted glasses on and not have any opinions that conflict with the new supportes of the MIGHTY GATE.
Blackz
I've been going to home and away games for nearly 3 years now Jim, would hardly class myself as a 'new' Margate supporter. Would prefer to have blue tinted glasses on than being constantly negative, but maybe that's just me.
michael
i'm impressed by the memory-you recall correctly with regards to Robin-we're gonna bash 'em Trott. that given-i will drop my alleged conspiracy theory that we deliberatly lost a few games under RT in order to avoid promotion-still confounded how we went from 1st to 6th in about 6 games. i'll drop the thought though-as we almost did the same last season !! scraped through in the end though-and looking more than decent for this season so far
BlueGate Alan
All I know is Christian scored the winning goal to get my Home born team back into the Football League. So in my eyes he is a hero. Lets hope Michael he can regain his form here, though my son knows the Media guy at Grimsby and he rates him.
michael
agree-i.m open minded-and obviously there is a good player lurking in there.-the loan spell at fgr just did not work out (by his own admittance) ,but us mere mortals only see about a tenth of whats really going on . my biggest concern though is the wholesale invasion of Kent by the Welsh ,with jolley coming to margate, wilmott to ebbsfleet, minshull and another guy to bromley if you want to see last seasons newport county team-just roll up in kent

michael
Christian Jolley isn't the Christian Jolley I had at Wimbledon at the moment, he will be scoring goals and as soon as he starts getting on the goal trail he will be a decent player." Chris1
Ah, the Trott era! We got found out at Boreham Wood, and from then on everybody knew how to beat us.
michael
we will be fine. keep calm and carry on. no matter how experienced and good you are-and i rate TB?SC highly-you need to(re)-learn the league and grow into it,and that will take at least a season-and probably two.
