Enfield have been suspended by the Ryman League because the club's parent company, EFC Holdings, has gone into liquidation. BUT... this should be for one match only, as the league are trying to force owner Tony Lazarou to sell EFC Holdings to the fans for nothing (as it is basically worthless anyway). Their secretary Mark Wiggs tells me that Tuesday is "no problem".He'll phone later today to confirm that the suspension has been lifted in time to play the game at the White LIon.

Seems to me there are lots of different strands here. From a liquidator's point of view, I'd have thought that his or her job will be to get the best [any] value returned to EFC Holdings' creditors. That will take some time and has to be done properly; the option apparantly favoured by the Ryman League doesn't stack up. The name and the league status have value which the liquidator must seek to exploit and a search for any other assets needs to take place.

On the fixture front, as long as the club doesn't consume more resources than currently exist by continuing to play I see no reason why they shouldn't get games on. I suspect that the Ryman League dilemma is one of not wishing to be seen to put the club under, yet not wanting to have to unpick more results if that's the inevitable outcome.

No suggestion/intention of cruxifiction here at all. More, concern that the Ryman League acts sensibly and doesn't attempt to promise something for EFC supporters that it has no control over. That would be most unhelpful at this, or any other, time. Perhaps they and the FA are concerned at the outcome they have manufactured; it always seemed to me that the consequences of 'banning' TL had never been properly thought through or the intention made public. I guess that without meaningful sanctions in points deductions or a fine the FA was hamstrung itself after a 4 year investigation.

I suppose there is a first time for everything! I can't see how suspending a club which is now being rum by the supporters is going to be an effective way of having a go at the ex-chairman who let the whole thing go to pot in the first place.

I understood the FA action to be a way of trying to get TL to give back money which he got but didn't use, as they saw, correctly. I can't see how such a ban would bother him unduly unless there is a possibility of legal action to back it up. It that is a possibility, why hasn't it been tried? Or is that something which they will be taking forward in the near future?

Perhaps the problem goes right back to the repeal of FA Rule 34, which used to stop asset-stripping. They got rid of it, because there were so many ways round it (especially for clubs which became PLCs), without putting anything in its place.

One really annoying part of this is that the Isthmian League has apparently taken action but not published what that action is, allowing rumour to flourish in a way which is detrimental to EFC and, in my view, makes the league itself look petty and spiteful. If they have taken this action, why not actually put it in the "League News" section of their site?

I have just got a season ticket for Enfield F.C . Cost me £1.20 , but as the song goes "i'm Enfield till i die." Anything to give to the Towners! There's only one team in Enfield come on the Ryman boys.

I severely doubt you have £1.20.

And yes, there is only one team in Enfield, because Enfield FC play at Boreham Wood. Enfield Town FC play in Enfield.
