Azza
I saw on someone's profile on Twitter that they class themselves as a semi professional footballer that was playing in South Midlands prem.My view is that Ryman prem is when it is classed as semi pro no lower.your thoughts ? Neutral
If you earn money from it, you're semi-pro, surely? Or maybe it should only be called 'semi-pro' when the whole league pays?
CM_Grendon
If you have another job, and get paid to play football as well then you are semi pro. Simple
Karen Browne
Well no semi-pros in the SSML - as we all know no club is paying their players
Whitley Bay
If you have another job, and get paid to play football as well then you are semi pro. Jonno
Anyone describing them self as semi pro in the SSMFL is a bit embarrassing
Azza
Totally agree johno.. Maybe 10 years ago.. But in my view the standard is so much worse than that what it should be.no disrespect to Kings Langley and the previous two winners but are they semi pro teams ? Players are not semi pro until ryman level-simple

backfour1
From what I see of players in both SSML and the Ryman the confusing bit is not that he describes himself as semi-pro but that he calls himself a footballer
NeutralFan
I've heard someone who's sat on the bench for a season not even picking up 'expenses' describe himself as semi pro... very embarrassing!

The standard is somewhat dropped over the last ten years not in the spartan but across the board from the ryam prem down! since it was the Dr Martins. nick.ince
When a club declares that they pay a player and that player pays tax on their 'earnings'... ...I suppose that discounts all the back hander bandits in the SSMFL!
CM_Grendon
Which means someone who is paid to play - say in SSMFL Division One - but who has no other job, is a professional? If it is their main source of income then yes.
