The Crowing Cockerel
Probably a bit slow on this, but read today that Mark Kirby has left to join Hendon. Club Legend is probably an understatement. We'll miss ya, big fella!
Steph
He will be difficult to replace. He inspired the team by his enthusiasm. A Town legend.
Tom S
Legend is a much over-used term in sport but Kirbs will always occupy a key position in the club's history. His farewell message, with words such as 'regrettably' and 'unfortunately', strongly hints that the decision to leave wasn't entirely his own but all good things come to an end eventually. Looking forward to our first game against Hendon when I'm sure he'll get a great welcome.
townerboy
yeah. its not clear WHY he has left. i would have thought him irreplacable.
Tom S
Nobody's irreplaceable, at least not at our level. When Chris Wild left (the first time) we thought he'd be tough to replace but Kirby stepped in admirably. Let's reserve judgement until we see who Brad replaces him with. CD Towner
Chris Wild left for a step up and better offer. I'm not convinced that is the case here with Kirby? We may well replace him well but the current defenders we have (with the exception of Vilcu) are not up to the standard of Kirbs. I too would like to understand WHY he has left as I sense the same tone as Tom S?
