how much time do you actually spend a week doing a degree? surely there must be plenty of time left over to do some work to get enough dough to keep you in pot noodles, dope and condoms..

as for going out, well if you want to go out n drink expensive beer etc then er..get a job..

why does everyone think beer n fags n dvds etc are a 'right' these days..

brew your own alcohol and read books in the library, that will save you a fortune... buy good quality cheap clothes from unfashionable shops for bugger all and cut your own hair.. surely thats what being a student is all about.?

dont worry about having a good time.. you can do that later when you are all rich artists or media thingys ;-)

I'm doing pretty well on the cheapo student front. I cut my own hair, read books in the library and walk 6 miles every day just to avoid paying for public transport, only problem is the £520 rent I have to pay every month <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Canv- the amount of hours spent on a degree varies. You have lectures, but then you may also have lessons in practical and/or theoretical parts of the degree. You may also have an elective, for example my brother does Art as his main degree but also does Spanish, which isn't part of his degree. Then of course there's homework, assignments, dissertations (usually in the last year), coursework etc etc. Different degrees are structured in different ways.

 

And as for going out- do you really think a 19 year old who has just moved away from home, away from their parents is NOT gonna go out (or stay in!) and party?! I don't think so! Anyway student beer is cheaper, so there you go. And I don't smoke, do dope or eat pot noodles so I'm sorted! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Just to illustrate Chubbhead's point - I haven't had any hours of teaching today, but I've been in university for almost 12 hours now, and apart from half an hour for lunch, and a bit of stuff on the net, I've been working solidly <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
