Rebel Yeller
Can someone please advise as to what is happening with Staines Lammas? Towards the end of last season they announced that they were terminating their groundshare with Ashford. This appeared on the Ashford website. A short while afterwards, ominously on 1 April, they announced on Twitter that they were returning to their old ground at Laleham, and that much money would be spent on it by a new sponsor. Because of the date i took this with a pinch of salt. Whilst out walking the other day I went through Laleham and stopped to look at their ground. It was fenced off and with dugouts, but no sign of any floodlights at all. Surely if Lammas were returning to Laleham they would have to have the ground up to scratch by 31 March, as Spelly, Knaphill and Abbey Rangers had to do. Clearly it didn't meet the criteria so where will they be playing come August. No other groundshare has been announced, and if they truly are returning to Laleham, why have they not had to comply with the same rules as everyone else. I'm baffled. lazarus
Clubs already in the League (as opposed to those trying to get in) who do not meet the requirements of Grade G have been given until 31 March 2016 by the Football Association to meet those requirements (apart from floodlights). Staines Lammas are now in that category, having left Ashford, and, along with Farleigh Rovers, Sheerwater and Worcester Park, will now have to make the necessary improvements by that date. The requirement for lights is to be reviewed in three years time at national level by the Football Association. Abbey Rangers will be entering the League with a Grade H, which is the entry grade for Division One. They will also have until 31 March 2016 to meet Grade G. I think you will find RY that the tweet was an April Fools Joke.
