Walkers' arrival at Dorchester

Ian

Recommended Posts

I know they'll probably read this so therefore it won't necessarily be a surprise to them but PLEASE can everyone make themselves available to welcome Kay and Radders when they arrive at Dorchester?

I hope Radders will take the plaudits too as he covered 60 miles before injury forced him to retire. Barring a couple that's still further than almost every other walk that's taken place in the last 10 or 12 years.

As for Kay, what she's done is incredible. I walked with her yesterday for 20 miles through the New Forest and it's torture. The knees ache, the hips ache and oh God it hurts your feet. That's without the mental strain of walking for 7 or 8 hours a day dodging traffic and trying to keep yourself sane. By the time she gets there tomorrow she'll have done that for 6 of the last 7 days covering 116 miles in the process. At least 2 of those days will have been on her own too.

Am not sure how much they'll have raised but it's a mammoth effort to raise funds for PALS and the Supporters Trust. Plus they've got the name of STFC in the local papers for hugely positive reasons at a time when it's most vital.

Please make the effort to leave the bar, or wherever you are hanging around before the game to show your support and appreciation when they arrive.

Just to give a quick update Kay is making solid progress on the final day along what are some pretty horrific roads for walking on (up hill and down dale, very little pavement coupled with very fast cars, etc). Around 8 miles to go and she still looks as fresh as she did when we set out last Sunday (that maybe a slight lie). Make sure you're all there to cheer her in sometime between 14:00 and 14:30 at a guess.

Well done to Kay, Radders and Ian.

Fantastic achievement for very good causes.

Amazing to see Kay walking into the ground as if she had been on a sunday stroll.

Just want to thank everyone for the support and fantastic welcome from both fans and players today

Without Ian and Radders there is no way I would have made it.so thanks to them both too

Seriously, we need to re-think these walks as with the three relegated teams all some of the more local possibilities it can only get worse.

Had lots of thinking time too. Despite the ups and downs, I think this season has delivered what the realists amongst us hoped for, so huge thanks to managers and players for their efforts. Huge progress on the ground front, so overall its been a good season.
