Sutton clubs agree to ground share

Sutton United have agreed a groundshare arrangement for next season that will see Combined Counties League Premier Division side Sutton Common Rovers play home games at Gander Green Lane, ending an eight year absence from the borough in which the club has its origins.

Due to a lack of local facilities the club has been playing in the Mole Valley and Elmbridge areas, most recently at Cobham FC, and adopted the name Mole Valley SCR, but a decision had already been made to revert to the club's original name of Sutton Common Rovers before the agreement to play games at Gander Green Lane.

Sutton chairman Bruce Elliott said :''We're pleased to have come to this arrangement with Sutton Common Rovers and to have been able to help them return 'home', and we look forward to hosting them next season. I'm sure our supporters will take a keen interest in their fortunes''.

SCR president Gary Brigden commented: ''Our agreement could not have been timelier, tying in perfectly with our name change as we finally see our seniors, colts and veterans sides reunited in the Sutton borough. We are all very excited at this venture and look forward to a prosperous relationship with Sutton United moving forward.''

Mole Valley SCR would also like to go on record to thank Cobham FC for their hospitality over the last six years. They saved us from leaving the league when the River Lane ground was taken from us, and have alway made us feel very welcome. We would like to wish them every success moving forward.
