Dagger03
The Hornchurch Isthmian League reserve (Under 21) team reached the final of the League Cup with a 5-3 win at Three Bridges. The line up was Ben Lane – Gianni Ashley – Jake Piper (Will King) – Tom Potter – Sam Burton © - Bobby Moorton (George O’Connor) – Frankie Holland – Sam Dickens – Ross Damrell – Luke Dickens – Russell Downs (Aiden Bailey) Frankie Holland scored two, Ross Damrell also scored twice, and Sam Dickens scored the other goal. The final is between Hornchurch and Enfield Town, and it will be staged on Monday 11-May, venue to be decided, as both the Bridge and Donkey Lane are not available on that date. cup of tea
Great news - well done to all involved. Maybe we'll see some of the U21's make the first team one day.

Eastside Urchin
Great stuff. Can we please be kept informed on here as well as the usual media outlets of the date, time and location of the final please
Dagger03
Rob - (and anyone else who is interested) - as soon as I get confirmation of the venue I will let everyone know. As things stand at the moment, the league want the match to take place on the 11th May, and on the ground of one of the finalists. Both the Bridge and Donkey Lane are not available, and, from what I can gather, other grounds are also unable to stage the match. Aveley is already booked, Thurrock is not available, Harlow is too expensive. That leaves us with no local venues. I would prefer it if they could toss for choice of home venue and then play the match as a curtain raiser to next season, just as we have done with the ESC final and with the Presidents Cup in the past - but, put simply, I do not know yet what will happen. Just why the league appear to insist on the 11th May is something I do not understand.
Eastside Urchin
Problem with that is that the players that got yo the final may not be the ones playing as the clubs may decide to use it as a game for trialists and first team players, hardly fair on the young lads who got to the final
Dagger03
The Isthmian League have now decided on the venue. The date is still the 11th of May. The venue is WHYTELEAFE. In case anyone is wondering where Whyteleafe is, it is the other side of Croydon, at least 30 miles away from Hornchurch and Enfield.

Eastside Urchin
Can't the clubs and the fans complain and start an internet campaign to get this ridiculous decision overturned. It's not fair on the clubs who are 15 miles apart to have to pay for travel to a ground 1-2 hours away and on a Monday night rush our they will have to sit in traffic no doubt. Thought the leagues and bodies were supposed to be helping clubs not making it more difficult and costly for them. If the people at the top of the game are making these decisions then they quite simply need to be relieved of their duties as it's not helping clubs and the young players
Dagger03
This is the second time this season that Whyteleafe has been allocated a final - they also had the Grays v Hendon league cup match, which also meant a difficult M25 rush hour trip for both teams. It is all the more annoying as both HFC and Enfield had their ground available, but not on the 11th - just why it is so important to have the match on Monday the 11th is something which only the league can explain. But I am sure the league will be more than happy with the match being played in front of twenty neutral spectators at a deserted Whyteleafe. Dagger03
There is now a possibility that the venue and date may be switched to a more local ground. I will update as soon as I get any definite news.
