Smudge
Now you all know my views about CCL Committee Members not regularly attending games, but imagine this scenario. They go to a game where nothing is certain about who will be Crowned Champions, they take the Trophy with them to the ground of the most likely recipients. The game is in progress and the possible Champions only need 1 point to secure the Title,90 minutes go by the game is a 0-0,they then put up a couple of tables behind the dugouts, not sure if the medals/trophy were in place, but low and behold in the 93rd minute, the team that cannot win the League score, with no time for the potential Champions to reply.Heartbreak for the home side, but thankfully they have another bite at the cherry next Saturday v Staines Lammas. I am sure even our friends at Farleigh will forgive if we say "Up the Lammas" at least for the coming week!
VPCTFC
I think it's good that the league try to present the trophy at a game. I don't know how many other leagues do that. It can be a tough call though. Imagine if Molesey don't win tomorrow night. The league have to decide whether to take the trophy to Camberley or Westfield on Saturday. My tip would be to wait in Bagshot until half way through the second half and make the decision which way to go at 4.30pm. I've checked the fixture list - Bagshot don't have a game so they may as well sit in a pub, Twitter on the go.
Smudge
In the Farleigh v Worcester Park episode though, they certainly underestimated Worcester Parks ability, and never say die attitude.Maybe this coming Saturday the League should invite all AFC Croydon Committee,Management,Players, along to Parsonage Field,Free of charge to them(league pays),so that they can present the award to either side on the day.Just so they do not get egg on their faces, twice in one week. Windsor_Sec
Why would they have egg on their faces Smudge ? All they've done is pre-empt the possibility that AFC Croydon may have won the league in their last home fixture and reacted positively by being there just in case. Most clubs most certainly wouldn't want to be pipped at the post [if AFC win the league] and then see their main rivals who aren't even involved in the game in question presented with the winners trophy in front of their own supporters - recipe for disaster if you ask me ! Smudge
Lost me Windsor Sec,they were at Farleigh who had 2 games to play, not Croydon Ath.If Farleigh had got 1 point against Worcester Park, they could of presented the trophy when they played Staines Lammas this weekend. They cannot now present the trophy to AFC Croydon if Farleigh do not get a point as they have no games to play.Very embarassing for the League in my opinion. NonLeague i
Hmm Smudge i understand your point that they looked stupid for setting up before the final whistle but i have to agree that i like the fact the committee attempted to present the trophy infront of the fans of the "potential" champions. Whilst they looked stupid in this scenario because of the late winner im sure if Fareligh had got the point they needed we wouldnt have battered an eyelid at them being at the game with the trophy. Catch 22?
Smudge
Until something is certain, why put yourselves in that position though. My feeling is that it is disrespectful to the other Club involved, who could be Champions.Bit like Wednesday night, they will not be at Raynes Park to posibly crown Molesey champs,or will they.Reason because they could lose their last 2 games, and a Camberley win, would have a different outcome.
