Ash Trees 2 Villains 0

Nice way to end the season.

Very much an end-of-campaign match, and I was surprised Hanworth Villa weren't quite as ruthless or determined as I'd have expected from a team battling to avoid relegation.

The first half was soporific, and the match finally sprang into life in the last half hour. Without our two top strikers - Bitz now at Kingstonian and Dan with a broken foot bone - we struggled to make inroads, but Samad gave us the points with poacher's finishes in the 79th and 90th, the second coming after superb work by Sam on the right wing, immediately after Villa had missed one of two open goals in the second half which could have changed the outcome.

A decent season, and a good marker put down for 2015/16. Many at the club would have been happy with 4th place in a tough division. Hopefully, most of the squad will be with us next season and, with the addition of maybe a couple of seasoned and experienced campaigners, we can make a good fist of it next season.

My man of the match today was Joe Green - he didn't put a foot wrong!    :D  :D

Like it, Eddie.

Whilst a pretty typical end-of-season game, the result left everyone reasonably happy, I think.

An excellent initiative by Nick Bailey and others to hold the Juniors Day at this match. A terrific attendance of 220, with reduced admission charges and a free hot-dog offer for the youngsters.

I know of other local clubs (Staines Town?) who would eat your hand off for attendances such as that.

Now the hard work begins, on and off the pitch, to prepare for the 2015-16 Season and do it all again, striving for that elusive top spot.

Lots of Cup Finals and other games before mid-May, so let's all try and come along and enjoy the summer, before the inevitable Ashes Cricket defeat.

I agree with Swifty and Mack a typical end of season game, well done to Sammad for his

two goals, and a reasonable team performance by Ashford.

For me Ashford's best game of the season was away to Cove, winning 3-4 against the then top of the league,a truly top performance and all round team game.

Ashford's worst game was away to Hanworth Villa losing 3-0,a dreadful dreadful performance, thankfully not repeated again.

A big thank you to all involved with Ashford for the roller coaster ride that comes with supporting the team, and I hope for an even better 2015/2016 season.

With the season now finished, just what am I going to do with my Saturday's and mid-week?

Ps i heard a whisper that Scot Weight was considering returning, any body know anything about it.

Pps just out of intrest how many teams are relegated from this league?and where do the teams promoted to this league come from?

As many as three teams are relegated to CCFL Division 1 and, under FA rules, the bottom team are definitely relegated, but there's a possibility only the bottom side will go down this season, as two of the three CCFL Division 1 clubs without ground grading for our division (Farleigh Rovers and Worcester Park - neither have floodlights for starters) are currently in the division's top three. If the table finishes that way, only AFC Croydon Athletic would come up next season. Chessington and Hook United still have a chance of making the top three, meaning two relegated sides to CCFL Div1 next season if that happens.

Molesey or Camberley Town would win promotion to either the Isthmian Div1 South or the Southern League Div1 Central, and I guess we'd receive two sides relegated from those divisions (choose from Redhill, Horsham, North Greenford United and AFC Hayes) to bump the CCFL Premier back up to 22 teams for next season. My money would be on the latter two, as the others are more in the footprint of the old Sussex County Football League (renamed from next season the Southern Combination Football League), though NGU and / or AFCH could just as likely end up in the Spartan South Midlands league. Watch this space.

Teams are generally promoted to the CCFL Division 1 from the Surrey Elite Intermediate League or the Middlesex County League. Addlestone Moor based side Abbey Rangers are favourites for promotion, with another team yet to be rubber stamped.

I forgot to say, I don't know what had happened to Greeny, but it's a right old state when the player coming on as sub looks in worse condition than the player he's replacing!

A reasonably successful season with some quality play at times, some fine goals both idividual and team efforts. Great wins against higher opposition and a real team spirit on and off the field.

Lots to be posetive about for next season.

Training pitches to be fully refurbished

Full stocked club shop with Ashford merchandise

New fencing around most of the main pitch

Hopefully a better quality programme etc

Well done to all our fans for travelling in numbers to support the team with passion and heart.

Let's hope we can make a serious challenge next season!

COYT!!!

For me, this season has come to a conclusion too soon. It's been an adventure and a privilege.

As stated by Dan, a lot has been achieved off the field as well.

We now have over three months to the start of next season, and I would love to see more volunteers coming forward to help get the place in good shape for August.

Don't be shy - if you have any 'handyman' skills - please talk to us. All we ask for is your time, we do not expect anyone to cover the costs of materials, etc., though that would be greatly appreciated.

Come along to the AGM on 14th May (8pm start), and get involved with our fantastic club.
