Q Magazine

Recommended Posts

'Proper' music magazine Q has let itself down once again, with this month's cover star being that twat Justin Timberlake.

This comes on the back of Britney Spears, Robbie Williams and Christina Aguilera all appearing on the front cover within the last six issues.

Fking joke. I'm buying Mojo from now on.

Talking Of Q, Chubbhead, has my package come yet??

Robbie Williams Angels is brilliant and i'm not being biast here! It is such a fantastic song, and is lovely.

When i was at Knebworth, and he sung this at the end of the concert, it was really emotional and when i listen to the track on his Knebworth album, it really does sound fantastic.

I suppose we are all going to suggest which songs would be the best of all time, but Robbie's Angels, to me is well up the in the top 10!

Would Timberlake and Will Young be in your top 10 too??

No they wouldn't Zeal. I do not think that Justin has surficed to producing a quality record to be considered to be in this catagory. Yes he has produced music that i like to listen to and dance to but not exceptional music.

Will Young on the otherhand, has only been around for a short period of time and i do believe that one day he will produce a record that can be considered for a quality record. but at the moment, he hasn't produced an exceptional track to be considered.

Robbie Williams, however has been around since 1991/1992 (however this is when he was in take That), and has been writing his own songs since 1996. i do believe that Angels is a brilliant track and one that fully deserves to me in a top 10.

Ten songs off the top of my head...

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

The Jam - Going Underground

Beatles - Hey Jude

John Lennon - Imagine

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Rolling Stones - Satisfaction

Beatles - Ticket To Ride

Oasis - Live Forever

David Bowie - Life On Mars

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Okay - that's ten. Not my top ten. Some of them wouldn't even get in my Top 100.

But can you honestly name a song on that list that should be dropped to make room for Angels by Robbie Williams??

Zeal, they are all quality tracks, and i'm not dismissing that. However, i have never heard of the one by The Jam, so i can not comment, so if i had to drop one, this would have to be the one.

Zeal i understand that you do not prefer Angels, but i do, some of the songs you like i wouldn't personally take to, but i think that it has to do with our individual taste in music.

Also, i don't think that yellow Brick Road was one of Elton's best hits, however it is a good tune though.

All of these lists are 'of their time' does anyone seriously think you'll see the likes of Robbie/Eminem in ten years time? No the problem is people are just thinking about what they like now. I say ban any song under 10 years old, then you'll get a fairer reflection.

I quite like 'One' by U2 by the way, but my number 1 would probably be 'A Day in the Life' by 4 Scousers with 1 million times more talent than Fat Stoke Rob will ever have.

It was not one of his finest hits, no. My point is, that it's still better than Angels.

When you say Robbie Williams' Angels would be in the Top 10, do you mean your personal Top 10, or do you honestly believe it's one of the greatest 10 songs ever written and performed??

I mean in my top 10, sorry i should have made that clearer.

SteveP, i assume your on about the beatles with regards to the 4 scouse lads, being better than Robbie.

Yes the Beatles were good, and they have undoubtably produced a lot of good songs, which all generations appreciate.

I quite like the thought that younger generations appreciate the music from past generations' times, yet the older generations (not all of the elder generations as there are some exceptions) do not appreciate good music from today.

I think a certain Guy Chambers wrote all of his songs, in fact when you take the songwriting talents of Gary Barlow and Chambers you realise that Williams is in fact just a fat dancer!

The latest Top 100 I saw was in the Sun yesterday (as voted by Sun readers Zeal), Penny Lane was about number 6, Angels was number 2 and REM's everybody hurts was number 3. Can't remember what was top!
But I did remember seeing things like "Ride on Time" by Black Box in the Top 40!
