Bedfont v Enfield Town

Recommended Posts

Well what was that all about? What a surreal game of football. I am not prone to criticising match officials but that lot were clearly so far out their depth they should have sent for the lifeguards. As for the junior ass. ref, how on earth did he get through his fitness test? Brad reckoned it wasn't him who swore for the red card incident.

After all that we didn't play well at all. We should normally beat a poor team like Bedfont comprehensively. As we was we gifted them all 4 goals (ok the 4th was so far offside he should have been flagged by the control tower at Heathrow) and I can only recall the one meaningful shot from them, that hit the post. Not that we terrified their keeper, to be fair.

We simply gave the ball away far too often. Their 3rd goal was a direct result of this.

Cooper did well, but is a bit spiky and could release the ball quicker/more often.

It was cold. It rained. I queued about 20 minutes for my cheeseburger. I had to pay for own petol on the way back, no Shell garage around to use my company card. I got flashed in Botany Bay despite only doing 30 and having dropped into 4th.

Not a good evening!

Out of the three teams on show tonight I reckon I can put them in the following order.

1. Bedfont

2. ETFC

3. ...

Lagging so far behind were the men in black!

The officials this evening were probably the poorest set of officials I have witnessed at a game when ETFC have been playing. Some people will read this and probaly say 'it's all sour grapes because we lost'. That is up to them.

The referee consistently made poor decisions when he needed to be strong and strange decisions when a decision was not needed. The performance of the officials was summed up when an offside was given against Bedfont near the end and even our players knew the player was onside and then told the linesman he was wrong!

All in all a poor night out at the airport!

I just hope the referee does not give up his day job.

I only queued 15 minutes for my hamburger. I had petrol in my car and nobody flashed me!

And after all that......our Referee last night was pants also.....Do any ESL fans out there feel like we do when we come up against Ryman opposition? A normal ESL game last night would have seen at least 8 Yellow cards from the tackles that Met Police were doing when they were rattled by our young side. It was quite frankly a joke. The ref gave them licence to kick anything in a green and white kit.

And let me tell you ...we won so no sour grapes here..... <img src="/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

If you read my post you will see that I freely admit that we were very poor indeed on the night. The number of times we gave the ball away needlessly was unbelievable, and all four goals can be put down to defensive errors. We still dominated possession for most of the game though. How much the wayward refereeing and sending off affected us no-one can say, but I remarked in the toilets at half-time (as one does) that I believed we could win (we were 0-2 down and with 10 men).

Believe me, Bedfont were not a very good side but they did what they had to do, took their chances and go through, good luck to them.
