v St Neots

I think a very unfair comment regarding support from behind the goal. I have the voice (or lack there of) to prove that I, and many others, didn't shut up 2nd half. You must have been hearing things, especially the rousing reception the players received on their way back to the changing room. That said, it was great to see a strong away following and, as always, the st Neots fans did their team proud especially sticking round to clap them off after throwing away a 3 goal lead.

On the game, I was saying at half time that our midfield and attacking play deserved more and, if we were to score the next goal, we could get something from the game. Thought the front 6 were outstanding and that the back 5 made up for any first half errors in the 2nd period. One block at 3-3 (couldn't see who made it) was particularly outstanding.

Really enjoyed the match, fair play to their keeper who was a laugh throughout. Apart from a couple of very poor tackles on Chris Henry (they couldn't contain him any other way) it was a game played in a great spirit which proved a fantastic spectacle and even the ref (yes the ref) had a decent game getting most if not all of the major decisions right.

On overall play and chances I thought we shaded the first half but individual errors proved costly and we looked to be on the end of a hiding at 0-3.

A well taken goal from Dan Read before half-time was vital to give us a glimmer of hope of salvaging something from the game.

Most of the first half the St Neots defence looked really shaky and once Dan Read scored his second goal the momentum was with us and so it proved when Reese Yorke popped up with the equaliser.

With the effort we put in we seemed to tire in the last 10 minutes or so and St Neots piled on the pressure but unlike the first half we defended well and held out for a well deserved draw.

Really well done to the players today for showing the character and fight to get something from a game that looked a lost cause at 3 nil down.

I thought Jake Parsons was outstanding today with really good performances from Dan Read and Chris Henry and all the other players chipping in with good games.

After some of the Refs we've had recently I thought he had an excellent game.

The St Neots support sounded better because they had a drum and hardly stopped singing for the whole game.

Like a lot of teams when they travel in numbers they are generally much noisier than the home support.

Have to agree with Radders above. Their fans who stayed behind to clap and cheer the team after blowing a 3-0 lead are a credit to them.

A great game though. Two pitiful defensive displays. Us first half and them second. Baked and unders really are going to have hard work plugging that gap, and I doubt foulser (due to injury) is the answer.

Thought read and Henry were superb. Both parsons and Adam martin looked very good as well.

Great spirit from us to come back from 3-0 down, well done lads. Drew Roberts was a constant threat for St Neots and looked liked a quality little striker. I guess his 25 goals this season show that! Mom for me today was Chris Henry. He had their defenders scared stiff all afternoon and everytime he gets on the ball he makes something happen. Dan Read took his two goals well but apart from that I didn't think he done an awful lot. However, if he bangs a few in tho I couldn't care less!!

Much better this week. The general consensus was we'd played well first half but absolutely gifted them their goals. To be fair we defended better second half and shown loads of character to get back in the game. We looked so much better this week with Adam Martin and Chris Henry back in the side. A great game to watch!

There was so many defensive mistakes and lulls in play, from what could have an even more blood and thunder game that I'm not quite as impressed by the spectacle,as some of fans think on this 3-3 draw.

From a Slough perspective I thought we deserved something from the game and coming back from 0-3 down,we got a well merited draw.

Chris Henry,Scott Harris and Jake Parsons were my MOM's .All three were in the thick of the action.

Chris Henry is proving to be the pacy outlet that we so desperately missed when Dobbo went off the boil. His low centre of gravity and direct running was a constant thorn to the right side of the St Neots defence.

Thought Lewis Hillard gave Slough the same sort of trouble in the first half.Tom Moran certainly had his work cut out trying to hold him up.Think it was hard on him having to mark such a quality player in his first game for awhile.

Shame we didn't have Leigh Rumbold yesterday.Certainly a game made for his expertise ie getting in tackles and shoring up the gaps.

Sometimes I think we are a little too nice to the opposition. We needed a player like Leigh who would get stuck in.

I was surprised the management opted to take Scott Harris off, but obviously with Dan's two confidence boosting goals can understand why they left him on,but I thought 'Hatchet' was having a superb game.

Having such a good striker as Ed Smith on the bench,of course it was a no brainer bringing him on.

Anyway,a good point gained,regardless.

The incident where their guy kicked Tom Moran in the penalty box left spectators bemused on the far side. It happened in full sight of us all and the linesman presumably saw it otherwise why speak with the ref? At a minimum it looked like a straight red and possibly a penalty although in that respect play hadn't restarted from our free kick when it took place.

Obviously the ref didn't see what happened, but the lino couldn't have missed it. Don't want to see players sent off but that deserved it.

That aside thought the ref was good, let play flow and minimal yellows. If that had been another ref we'd have had 10 or 12 booked!

Gift goals for the opposition has been a theme this season, but generally very pleased with the performance and character to get a draw from 3-0 down.

Thought the ref was one of the best we've had in ages.Although he could easily have sent off two St Neots player ie the incident you mention with Tom Moran and the flailing arm/smash by Matthew Spring on Chris Henry.

Also think we had a little bit of luck when Drew Roberts went tumbling over in the box after a Slough player's challenge[not sure who? may have been Ryan Parsons,as it was on our left] .Didn't think it was a penalty but it could easily have been given.

Glad we didn't see any red cards, though,as often too many refs are card mad.For once,I thought the ref took a sensible amount of action and kept the game flowing,to his credit.

A very entertaining game where the result was determined more by defensive mistakes than great attacking football.

I must admit that at half time I was in shock at how we gifted them their goals and was hoping that the season could end right there.......

Second half we came out much better and controlled much of the second half when it would have been so easy to be deflated, how good is Chris Henry, by far the most dangerous player on the pitch. I really hope we can keep hold of him. Thought Read was excellent too with his movement on and off the ball and of course his two goals.

My work colleagues also enjoyed the day and each bought something from the club shop which was excellent, despite one of them kicking a ball under a car forcing bakes to go under the car off of it (sorry bakes :) ). As one of them said "well I've bought the shirt now so I may aswell make more use of it" so hopefully they will come back more often

Just some stats about yesterday's game. Slough fouls committed -11, total shots 18, on target 10, off target 4, blocked 4, corners 9. St Neots fouls 8, total shots 16 on target 8 off target 6 blocked 2, corners 8. At half time Slough had had 7 shots on target but scored 2 and St Neots had 5 and scored 3. Figures don't include Read's disallowed goal in first half.

Just goes to show how close the game was overall so a draw probably right result.

Ian will correct me if I'm wrong, but the ref could have only given a card in this instance (yellow or red).

He could not have given a penalty as the ball was currently "dead" as it happened in the positioning in the box before the free kick took place.

Same for corners

Drew Roberts is a quality expensive striker.

Have no issues with Foulser coming back, he is 30 and therefore plenty left in his tank, yes he has had a serious injury, however having seen a specialist who works with WBA and Bayern Munich yesterday, we are convinced he will come back and stronger than before the injury... the specialist said he has no concern over the injury whatsoever, and they are working on his hamstring and glutes throughout the whole summer, and he will come back in great shape.
