Banbury United match to be replayed

As most of you will know yesterdays game Northwood V Bedworth was abandoned at 58 mins   4 reds had been shown by then and the Bedworth management team had  been told to go to the stands   Groups of players had begun to tussle and the ref  abandoned the game  on Health and Safety grounds. I wonder how long it will take and in what way this will be resolved considering the long delay we suffered ?

 

 

Tricky one but after much deliberation the Southern League will order a replay and then Bedworth will appeal the decision.

Our appeal is being heard tomorrow, so hopefully an actual decision will be made and we'll hear about it later tomorrow. Apparently cost £500 to appeal.

Just don't see it.

 

Far too much responsibility for the FA to overturn the Southern Leagues decision and in turn relegate a football club.

Banbury need to win all their remaining 3 games (assuming we have to play them) and hope Frome don't pick up any points.

 

Unlikely, but if we beat Frome on Saturday Frome might have to get something from their last game against St Neots.

 

Banbury's only crumb of comfort is that their remaining games are against teams with nothing to play for.

If the decision had been made in a timely manner then they wouldn't have had the problem of effectively relegating a team.

 

Anyway, even though the final death nail comes in a single game, a team can not be relegated on a single match but on the results of all of the matches over the season.

Quite surprised but can understand the reasons. At the end of the day the points don't matter to us so much as the fear this can happen over and over again so hopefully the FA can make it clear to all teams what the consequences of such incidents will be.

 

For the good of the game I hope nothing as foolish will come of this with repeat incidents at any game knowing the replay is likely outcome

 

Hopefully everyone linked to Banbury can be respectful to us for the act of sportsmanship we have shown too

I must applaud the club for the decision they have made. It would have been a very hard one to make for all the reasons stated.

 

Let's hope that the game is played and watched in the same way as this decision was made.

For fair play, sportsmanship etc I can see why the club have come to this decision and should be rightly applauded. 

 

The irony is that come next Tuesday Banbury might already be relegated.

I disagree - I think it needs to be commented on, as the innocent team who were at no time at fault and with the least to gain from the incident have been backed into a corner and disadvantaged by these decisions.

Can we please move to the Ryman next season.

 

I hope the Evostik Southern league board resign in embarrassment at the total mess they have caused - total bunch on incompetents.
