Banbury United match to be replayed

Going back to Jonblack. I doubt he has said anything that us "faces behind the goal" haven't said at negative times. He has anonymity and with that writes what we wants.... I have often had to self- censor myself or not even go on here for a few days after a poor display. I do feel the criticism of the manager is harsh, they've done exactly what I'd hoped the last two years. Get up. Stay up.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is me personally posting this, not the Club Secretary. So This is not the club trying to shut down a discussion that is not to our liking, before anyone suggests that it is.

I just think that this is all a bit sad.

Yes a forum is a means of allowing discussion and it wouldn't be much of a discussion if everyone agreed all of the time.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion as they all pay their money to get in.

Yes, the Club, by which I mean officials, managers and players, have to accept that sometimes not everyone will think that the performance is worthy of praise.

But and this is a big but.  When the level of discussion dips so low that it is just trading insults, name calling and point scoring against people that you don't even know it all seems very childish, pointless and totally destructive to me.

So if you all want to carry on attacking each other, do so, but there are less and less people who bother with this forum and will end up with a handful of people and a constant slanging match and no meaningful discussion.

This is also a public face of the club and if I was thinking of coming along or commenting on here for the first time, it would totally and utterly put me off.

My suggestion would be that certain people need to do a little bit of growing up and as someone else has already said, think about whether you would say something to someone's face before you type it on here.

And all this before silly season starts.

Agree mostly with what you said,Rebel Kay but not about this fans forum being the public face of the club,as it is the unofficial forum of the club [not an official one] and the views mentioned on it,has nothing to do with club policy.

I might be biased but I think this forum is a very good one compared with others,as most days you get something to read and post about and for a club at our level,it is very well supported unlike many I've seen.

Also most of our posters do NOT go out their way to be controversial or use abusive terms. Can't legislate for everyone but I've seen far worse offerings on other forums than this one, especially considering the amount of followers we have compared to others.

Unfortunately  Stuart some outsiders come on here and see Slough Town Forum and don't see it as unofficial.

This I know by talking to people in away boardrooms ect.

Will have to be resolved by end of season.

....which means that certain authorities will have to get the @rse into gear.

It's hold yer breath time, yet again, folks !

Unfortunately you can't please everyone!

No matter what you do you will never stop peoples perception of things rather than whats actual facts.

CENSORED - I thought about posting, but then someone might take offence - the nanny state wins again.

NO just asking to be careful what you post as it does come back on the club,

If you post as a supporter you are part of the club. Or do you think your not.

Think of it in another way.

If you want to find out what Farnborough are like you will go on their forum.

You then take what's being said on there and report back on here.

What's being said on their forum is the individuals opinions and not possibly 100% fact, but it gets reported on here and other forums and becomes the perceived fact of what is going on at Farnborough.

I don't think there are many people who can honestly say they haven't done that in one way or another.

Just my thoughts

What's the option?

The club can't have it both ways. We're supposed to be the unofficial forum,as was told us a few seasons ago,

If we want to go down the official forum route, outsiders can be stopped from accessing the forum but then we are going to get a very politically correct, toned down version with a very small minority on it, and not the wide participation we get now.

So is that what we want?

Unofficial forum as not endorsed by club and no links on website anymore. Anyone who came on here thinking it was an official forum is an idiot. If it was official is would be entwined with the website and wouldn't be www.fansfocus.com it would be www.sloughtownfc.net/officialclubforum. I can't see the issue. It's an unofficial forum so should be treated as such. Face of the club? This the website and Twitter etc not here. IMHO.

The thing is Marcus, Someone goes to the home page (Fans Focus) then go to Forums it says Slough Town not Slough Town unofficial forum, even at the top of the home of these threads it says Slough Town Forum not Slough Town unofficial Forum.

So yes it looks like it's part of the Club.Even though it's not.

This is an unofficial forum and has been for many years regardless of what the heading text might say.

For discussion and opinion, you look in on a clubs forum, if accessible. We try to encourage participation from other teams and supporters here, but at the same time, making it registration only has reduced that visibility somewhat and probably puts a few people off.

For official news from other clubs, I would go to their official site, not the forum. Yes, it will likely have a great deal of spin on the articles, as we do ourselves, but would contain factual detail as opposed to opinion.

It's certainly a big positive to have the contributions of the management team (playing and club) through this channel for the promotion of discussion even if it should go through the official channels first sometimes!
