Yes ! But just being happy to stay up in my opinion shows a lack of ambition. It has gone from aiming for the play offs to happy with survival.

Still waiting for someone to show me where I have named any player in a bad report, while forgetting those that I have praised.

I think you make a fair point about how we're lowering our expectations of what can be achieved.Belief is often the key to pushing upwards.

However, when you knock at our managers abilities, don't you consider what they've achieved in two seasons at our club?

They've won us a promotion [the first one in years!] in their first season and now they achieved the main objective of this season, to keep Slough up and away from relegation, which they have done.

I would say that's great management not the poor one you seem to allude to.

Belief, team spirit etc will always go a long way to helping you compete but the over-riding factor normally always boils down to money.

Hopefully, next season we can put together a squad that is capable of competing in the top half of the division but until we have our own ground and the prospect of more funds becoming available IMO it will be an almost impossible task to challenge the teams with the biggest budgets.

surely as a minimum for next season we should be aiming for is some clear improvement. whether that is avoiding relegation more comfortably/earlier or aiming for gaining more points than this season or whatever.

16th we look likely to finish currently 51 points. the next step to that is not expecting to be in the playoffs although of course we would love it. we are only 9 points off of 11th place so somewhere around that area is not a million miles away despite our ups and downs. points wise we are closer to 10th than we are to the relegation zone.

That alone could probably be achieved if we cut in half the goals we conceded from set pieces this season.

set piece but goals against in general been a problem. have conceded 4 more goals than Arlesey who are of course relegated and only 3 less than Burnham who have been doomed for weeks. its not fair to point the finger at just the defence either the whole side needs to do their bit

Bideford and ourselves have proven how vital it is to have players who can score goals (both scored 65 and conceded 84 and 85) and we are blessed to have reliable goal scorers. big pressure on the more attacking players if we know we are not the tightest of teams the other end of the pitch

A fair target might be to aim for a top half position and anything better i.e. play-off spot will be a bonus.

I'd quite like a cup run.

Perhaps the only blemish on Bakes & Under's time at Slough so far is lack of progression in cup competitions. Would go a long way to helping to boost budget questions.

especially now that we come in a later round of the fa cup compared to when in div 1

If the fans settle for a mid league position this must filter down to the minds of the players even if only subconsciously.

On the subject of a new ground, yes it will bring in some revenue but do the managers know those extra class player needed having never managed at this higher level .While I will be pleased to get new ground will it be big enough should we progress up the leagues?

Wow, have we not managed at a higher level Jon??? blimey I didn't know that..... don't worry about the fact that we both played higher and have plenty of friends/people we know well managing and playing all the way up to Championship level, so pretty sure we have all the contacts we will need pal!!! And just sums you up that without even having the ground you are already questioning whether it will be big enough... sums up the internet troll that you are I am afraid!

I posed a straight forward question about having not managed at a higher level would you know what players were required. All you had to say was yes.Instead you threw your toys out of the pram.

Yet when various fans on this thread said the Banbury game performance was s..t no calling them trolls I note.

I don't understand you use this forum when things are going well but cannot except other forum members opinions.

No need to call them trolls as I know exactly who they are.... not worried to stand by their opinion (which I may or may not agree with)

I thought I would leave you with the following:

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtrl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1]extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

In answer to your questions

1.Yes they do.

2.Yes, if you had followed the developments you would know that the ground is being build to SLP capacity but with the ability to increase capacity as the club moves up the leagues.

Hope that will suffice, of course 1. is just my opinion founded on knowing both managers and actually talking to them face to face, they don't bite Jon, why don't you try it?

You first statement is unquantifiable and is therefor just your opinion and I'm sure a good psychologist would be able to help you on that one.

(Other opinions are available.)

So roughly what you are saying is that people on forums cannot have an opinion of their own if you don't agree with them.

I'm sure that Neil and Jon can and will speak for themselves, but my opinion of people is often formed by talking, agreeing, disagreeing, debating with them. Personally I find doing this face to face adds credibility as you can also assess body language and tone.

Someone that chooses to engage solely on an internet message board does not have as much credibility, and in my opinion is likely to be trolling.

Making arch statements, and little digs within many posts also looks like trolling.

Constantly whinging about whether posters are allowed to have an opinion is not trolling. It is boring.

So in summary, if someone will not engage in person, whinges about their right to an opinion, and posts more negative than positive then I think they have little credibility so I ignore them. Until they write 'except' when they mean 'accept'. Jonblack, you sir are a MONSTER!
