Dear Old Clarence Park

I was surprised to read on the Crawley Forum disparaging remarks about Clarence Park. In my day the Park was considered to be one of the best non-league grounds around. I certainly didn't visit many others that were as good.

 

Have all the other clubs improved their facilities or is the dear old Park just showing its age ?

My only complaint about the Park is that the outside toilets are disgusting. Other than that, I'd say we've certainly got one of the Top 3 grounds in our division.

 

I suppose the fact it was pissing down with rain, and was a generally miserable day, probably made it seem worse than it is.

I think the stand lets us down a bit. Weren't there some plans to build a new one.

Amazing, apparently our massive slope was also a contributing factor in the game. I presume they meant the one behind the Hatfield Road goal the other side of the fence...?!?!?

There appeared to be one hell of a slope on the pitch on Saturday.

 

Mind you, I had had several lagers, umpteen alcopops and the odd Aftershock or five!!

I think they are just having a pop. Obviously, they have some new ground, probably without any character, and look for the slightest chance to have a go at anyone else.

 

As for being a drab place, I'm really looking forward to visiting Crawley Cathedral. Any directions anyone?
