Another wet afternoon but this time a win against tough Dr Martens League opposition.

The first half was fairly lacklustre with very few chances. Newport's Neil Jones flashed a shot across goal from a narrow angle after a stray pass back from midfield by John Keeling put him clear down the right and Vinnie John and Lloyd Opara headed over and wide respectively from crosses Keeling and Graham.

Bradley Allen and Gavin McGowan replaced John and Opara at half time and the visitors defence had more work to do. After 6 minutes Duncan Roberts in the Newport goal saved well from a Steve West volley and shortly after Ollie Adedeji had a header cleared off the line. Our goal came on the hour, Bradley Allen spinning to send a far post cross onto the head of Gavin McGowan who directed the ball home. Roberts saved well from West in the 69th minute and a minute later Gavin McGowan volleyed a half cleared Keeling corner against the bar. Roberts again had to save well in the 71st minute, this time from his own player, as a Graham shot took a wild deflection off Scott Morgan. Despite all our chances it was down to Danny Gay to prevent a replay as he saved well from Sam O'Sullivan in the last minute.

Line-up:- Gay, Gooding, Kerrigan, Adedeji, West, Locke (Southon 77), Keeling, J Martin, John (Allen 45), Opara (McGowan 45), Graham. Subs not used:- Douglas, Collier (GK)
