Successful defence of League Cup by Ilford

Recommended Posts

Ilford looked strong in the first half and Lee Double put them in the driving seat after 6 mins but Mr Embery must have said something at half-time as Concord came back with all guns blazing and Danny Heale equalised from outside the box , two minutes in. A very good match ensued, then sub Marlon Stuart put the Foxes ahead again on 82 mins. Just one minute later and Ricky Finning was on target 1-1 with the keeper to level the score yet again. When everyone thought extra-time was looming, up popped Mr Heale to score the winning goal with virtually the last kick of the match and satisfy the critics who thought he had taken a holiday recently. Another excellent ESL game showing the strength "at the top".

Congratulations to Concord..

Typical game of two halves really...

First half we were 1-0 up....Alan Fenn hit the bar with a header.....Tim O'Riley was unlucky with a couple of efforts...it cold have been 3-0 at half time...

Then it all went wrong...!

Concord to their credit upped their game...equalised and then could have gone in front....but we thought we nicked the winner with 10 to go.....but no.....Concord got back into it straight away.......all credit to them

BTW Cleggy....I am not a player but a supporter..and Essex Boy 03 I have no idea who he is.....

Also well done on your result...

No concussion then?

Sawbo desperately wanted to win the league last season and can do it this season if Town slip-up anymore. They're Robins and Robins do tend to appear more at Christmas! Do they have a Danny or have they beaten the Danny jinx?

My 1 2 3 4 for the end of the season is ETFC, Sawbo, Concord and Romford. Ilford to finish 5th.

Incidentally Sawbo is registered in the League handbook as an Essex Side. I though Sawbridgeworth was in Hertfordshire but then I must be mistaken!
