What a shambles that was, highest budget in the league, perhaps £4,000 a week or more (I don't know) when I've heard that Uxbridge did it on £1,000 a week. Great players, great football, 4th position and no promotion.

Us Slough fans can't help but look into the past sometimes, what hope is there this season on current form?

By the way I'm in a depressed mood so sorry for the ranting !!!

I kept hearing figures of the weekly budget being between £3,500 and £4,000 last season. Hemels was bigger, Hornchurch's was much bigger.

Northwood - Between £1,000 and £1,500

Wealdstone - Around £1,000

Uxbridge - Between £1,000 and £1,500

All pretty successful last season and all built on players who wanted to play for the football rather than the money. We're geared more to that attitude this season I think which is a massive step in the right direction.

You are entitled to your opinion Chris but this thread is not rubbish, yes he has gone & he is history but he is getting it right at Boreham Wood. We disagree with you on your last point, Deaner was the boss not Steve Browne even some of the players were Deaners choice not Brownes. Every season Browne had the problem of unregular payments from Deaner required for players wages, how do you motivate players when they are not being paid? How would you perform at work Chris if you were not being paid, would you even bother turning up. Is Eddie now suffering from the same problem?

Just to reply to Gary, we are not saying bring back Steve Browne but just underlining the fact the problem is not completely down to the manager and it will not improve with the present set up. Another ex manager who did not do bad when he left was Graham Roberts who got Carshalton in the Premier at the first attempt, that was another manager you did not rate Chris.

Getting it right at BW? May just be a blip, but with 5 losses in the last 7 games, has the bubble burst there?

Roberts did so well at Carshalton that he has left having allegedly spent £40,000 over budget, allegedly pocketing over £15,000 he was not entitled to, and having pocketed (allegedly)fines imposed on players. Whatever the truth in those allegations, he is on record, in the non league paper, as saying he will pay back everything he owes.Seems there is good reason not to rate him.

M&S I agree withs ome of your points, but as highlighted above, Roberts has not done a good job at Carshalton (His replacement has, but that's another story). As detailed above, it has been alleged by their chairman and in the NLP that Roberts skimmed the wages, pocketed fines and actually walked away with £18,000 of the clubs money.

If you read back through some of my posts over the past few months, I wholeheartedly agree that Browne was not given the right circumstances to work under, but I can't imagine he helped the situation out either through signing a large number of players and if the rumours were true, offering them large signing on fees without Martyn Deaner's knowledge. If he was that good a manager, I'm sure more of the squad would have followed. Some of the players who have played underneath his management don't speak very highly of his personal skills at all, although I'm sure the players who've followed him have their reasons.

At least with the present setup, Eddie is trying to control the budget properly, something which hasn't been done since Paul Hardyman was removed as manager in my opinion. With the chairman we have, this action should only be encouraged. I personally think Eddie is doing a great job under the circumstances and the offerings available to him. I don't think he may be the right man for the job in the long term, but this is certainly a great learning experience for him and as long as he has the respect of the playing staff, long may he continue.

The problem this season is that we cant F*ck about

We need to get a top six finish or we slip even futher down the pyrimid.

Does this mean we need to spend big to get the results - maybe

Does this mean we need different management - maybe

But if we keep farting about we will get no where.

We still have time and enough games to finish safely in the top six but actions need to be taken NOW.
