HORNCHURCH  0  BOGNOR REGIS  0

Bognor survived a frantic final fifteen minutes to hold on to save a point, though they can feel relieved that a shot from Kieran Bishop earlier had cannoned back off the inside of the bar.

Bognor made the early running and Doug Tuck, from the left side of the pitch, sent a shot wide of the far post.

Hornchurch had a chance shortly afterwards with a free kick ten yards outside the area on the left side, which George Purcell fired through the defensive wall, but directly at keeper Chris Winterton.

Bognor pressed forward again, and Ollie Pearce tried a chip shot from the left, which hit the post before being cleared by Billy Roast.

Elliot Styles did well to turn a shot from Ollie Pearce out for a corner, which Sam Mott punched away, whilst the follow up cannoned back off a defender and was cleared.

Billy Coyne, who had been presented with a plaque to commemorate his 200th appearance, did well with a good run on the right, when he slipped the ball to Frankie Curley, who in turn played on to Kieran Bishop, whose shot came back off the near post and was scrambled away.

Bishop had a shot blocked, and Coyne followed up, his shot being deflected for a corner. Joey May sent the ball over and Curley headed wide.

Hornchurch were somewhat fortunate when James Crane made ground on the left and his chip shot hit the inside of the post, with Sam Mott reacting quickly to grab the loose ball.

Almost on half time a Purcell shot was cleared off the line for a corner and it was Curley who again rose well but headed over the bar.

Both sides went close within a minute of the restart – Winterton saved from a Billy Coyne cross, and Mott saved comfortably from Pearce at the other end.

It looked a certain goal when Kieran Bishop broke through and powered down the middle of the field, but although his lobbed shot beat the advancing Winterton, the ball came back off the underside of the bar.

Bognor broke forward and Jake Thomson fired wide from a right wing cross.

Martin Tuohy and Nnamdi Nwachuku replaced Junior Luke and Kieran Bishop

Tuohy was almost immediately in action which a shot which was deflected for a corner.

Back at the other end Doug Tuck’s centre was met by Jason Prior, whose header was saved by Mott, and Ryan Woodford moved up for a free kick but headed over.

In the final twenty minutes the visitors came under increasing pressure. Winterton saved from Purcell and then did well to hold a Purcell free kick.

Nwachuku twice went close, when he moved in from the left, his first chipped attempt sailing wide of the far post, and his second run ending when he was crowded out by a packed defence.

In stoppage time Winterton made the save of the match from Tuohy, and Bognor survived the resulting corner to hold out for a point.
