56 replies because a game is off, in February as well, un bloody believable !!!

Lets move on to Histon.

Sue

Sue there's nothing else to talk about, so lets complain about if the game should of been called off or not.

Yet again as the Burnham game it was right to call it off. As at 3pm both games would not have gone ahead and it only costed the club (Steve) £20. Instead as some on here would of like the club to of paid £400 ish. I can't see anyone coming forward to pay this.

The problem is the lack of consistency by officials.

The Chesham game was on and them being only 9 miles north of Beaconsfield at a similar altitude and with shadow on parts of the ground I would have expected the pitch's to be in similar condition.

The game against Frome on 13th December had a pitch which was still frozen at the club house end as both Jake in the first half with his first goal kick stubbed his foot on the still solid ground - the Frome keeper did exactly the same with his first goal kick of the second half - there was ice in the car park on arrival and departure.

I go back to my previous comment of "If this is now the norm for what is an acceptable pitch, then the league will have to change the season to run from March to November" as this will then remove the need for officials to make these calls and remove the massive variability in their decisions.

This is an open forum for discussion last time I looked or are the mafia back at work?

It's only an open forum if you don't rock the boat apparently.Contructive musing only allowed if it does not upset the managers, being right when they are wrong really irks them. I and others have noticed. So yes the mafia are watching lol !

As I keep saying the only way anyone would know if the game should of been on or off HAD to be on the pitch itself, not guessing from miles away. That person was an OFFICIAL REF.

it was called OFF

SO THERE, and if you keep on I'll take the ball home and no one can play with it.

The trouble with the written word is that its not so easy to tell when people are joking or not. Maybe we need to grow thicker skins and not take offence when we are slated for acting in the best interests of the players, officials and spectators.

As I said before, Clubs are damned either way.  Do an early inspection and everyone will  either accuse you of having an ulterior motive or not giving it enough time.  Leave it late and then get criticised for letting people travel when there was little or no hope.

I think a lot of people are missing the point imo. The decision to call the game of was correct for this reason at 10.30 am the official had to ask only one question "Is this pitch fit to play on now?" If it wasn't then game off His job is not to try and predict what may or not happen in the next 4 hrs and depending on how far the other team is travelling sometimes the judgement call has to be made early Even if epicrebel had walked onto the pitch at 1500 and found it playable that wouldn't imo make the 1030am decision wrong he had to call it as he saw it.

I'm sure there have been times when a pitch inspection has been carried out and other factors have been taken into consideration and not just 'is the pitch playable at the present time'.

One major factor must be what the temperature is forecast to be in the next few hours.

I might be wrong but that's how I read it.

yes your right at 10-30 the inspection is would it be ok at 3pm. But it's not just the playing area that's looked at, the lino running area and the spectators area, even the roads into the car park (but not in this case).
