Pitch Inspection tomorrow v Corby

RR i can remember being on the coach in the conference days we were playing Southport that day.

We were on the motorway around Birmingham when Chis got the call to say the game was off.

The weather was bad snow and ice all over the country but when we left Slough the game was still on.

it.s no fun to get so far only to be told its off and you are doing a u turn for home with a coach full of disappointed supporters.

COYSLOUGH@SPURS.

RD, some of the Corby supporters are complaining that we didn't want to play the game because of injuries, so tough luck on them if they traveled and the game was called off.

On Twitter corny fans are complaining the supporters coach had left...

If the inspection was timed so the players coach would know before leaving.... How come the supporters coach left before it.... Confused.

They must have known there was to be a pitch inspection so why leave early? If they did leave early they couldn't have got too far so I can't see what their problem is.

I wonder what the pitch was like at 3pm.

Pound to a pinch of shit it was perfectly playable.

If you'd read through all the posts you would have seen that at 4pm it was still rock hard. Even if the inspection had been done at 2:55pm the game wouldn't have gone ahead. The referee who inspected it and the match referee he then consulted with got it spot on.

Stag Meadow was perfect (of course). Not that it did us much good today (of course).

Funny you should say that as I got 2 e-mail

1) from Lloyd Owusu It's 90' out here I can't understand on earth your game was called off.

2) from The Man in the Moon Totally agree with it being off as it's rock hard here as well.

Of cause I jest,,,,,, but unless your at beaconsfield at the time you can guess as much as you like, 2 Officials called it OFF not the club.

And there is always the fact that the Club only gets the gate money so why would we want to give up a Saturday game where we new a coach of Corby Supporters were turning up. To know a Tuesday night game would bring in a lot less of a crowd even from the home Supporter.

I did read through all the posts and there was no mention of 4pm.

But seriously - rock hard at 4pm....!!? Your temporary home got its own Arctic microclimate?

Do me a favour.

Obviously someone sitting at a pc can tell that the pitch is ok better than 3 people actually standing on the pitch. If I had known that I would of saved my time and fuel and sat at home and done it from here.

Shot back down there after the Italy v Ireland game so would of been not long after the second half would of started and Ta-dah The pitch was still rock hard.

Obviously Windsor supporters don't do Maths

Rother have you have forgotten your pitch was only upgraded with the rent money from our club during our time ground sharing.

So you should be very grateful.

You must get so excited on a saturday looking forward to watching your club in the Combined counties league.

Have a look at 18:33 yesterday.

The problem with Holloways Park is that one corner seems to take ages to thaw after a sustained period of low temperatures. Due to, I think, trees not allowing it to get as much sun as other parts of the pitch.

When do Windsor normally kick off for the second half then?

Thanks for letting us know you can do remote pitch inspections more effectively than qualified officials though. I'm sure we can take advantage of that in the future.

Yes it is 2 tree's in the right hand corner as you look away from the club house, but it's not so much the actual tree's but the Ivy or whatever it is climbing up it that's the problem, blocking the sun.

No, the old club did that with the funds saved through not paying HMRC. The rent money was saved up then went in paying Keith Scott and his band of merry men.

And yes, I get just as excited as I did watching football at Stag Meadow in the Southern Premier a few short years ago. The level doesn't make much difference to true supporters does it?

Minus the cost of the local official   ;)

No if you leave the inspection to the Match Officials only it's £200ish,,,,, the local (it's different with different local refs obviously) any thing from £10 - £20

And with the Burnham game £0
