Pitch Inspection tomorrow v Corby

Some corby fans are throwing their toys out of their pram thinking we want the game off..... What are they on! They think cause we have an 'injury crisis' as if played with a lot less in the past and done fine!

They neglect to point out we have also signed 3 quality players this week to cope with that, giving us a strong 16, it is what it is, an independent ref has come out and deemed it frozen with the backing of the match ref, to be honest I half expected it having spoken to the grounds man yesterday, and with the forecast last night and this morning.

Would it have thawed out by 3pm?? maybe, however on advice from the ref and groundsman it was decided it would not, however you cant win as if they came to Beaconsfield and the game got called off, we would be slaughtered for not doing a pitch inspection....

We move on to Histon Tuesday.

Fair enough, just would have liked it given more of a chance. I'm no expert but I would have thought a bit of rain would help thaw it out a bit! It's funny as one of our managers was on Twitter criticising clubs who call games off too early and we are doing the same today.

Will keep my big mouth shut in future!!

Obviously someone sitting at a pc can tell that the pitch is ok better than 3 people actually standing on the pitch. If I had known that I would of saved my time and fuel and sat at home and done it from here.

Shot back down there after the Italy v Ireland game so would of been not long after the second half would of started and Ta-dah The pitch was still rock hard.

what I have never understood is why players are never involved with pitch inspections and the like, it would only need to be the captain. It is the players who have to play on the pitch, no one else. Yet they have absolutely no say about it. Have the two captains from the teams if they both agree to play then the game should be on.

Late postponements are part and parcel of football at this level. What time was the Woodford game called off? 1? We had only been walking for three days.

RR i can remember being on the coach in the conference days we were playing Southport that day.

We were on the motorway around Birmingham when Chis got the call to say the game was off.

The weather was bad snow and ice all over the country but when we left Slough the game was still on.

it.s no fun to get so far only to be told its off and you are doing a u turn for home with a coach full of disappointed supporters.

I think we should have let Corby travel, leaving it to the official Ref to decide, as long as Corby had agreed to pay their own travel costs in the event of the game being called off.

Sorted.

And then you can pay the £200 for the officials to come to the ground.

Sorted
