Pitch Inspection tomorrow v Corby

There is a Pitch Inspection booked in for 10-30am if needed, depends on weather if Freezing or not.

IMO 10.30 in this type of weather i.e. where it is cold in the morning but where the temperature picks up as the morning progresses, is far too early to decide if the pitch is playable or not.

Right We have been monitoring the pitch all week with the groundsman(who couldn't get onto it until today). Beaconsfield cut it to ribbons playing on it Saturday, there are big ruts and divots all over the pitch. As the week unfolded was Monday + Tuesday solid frozen, Wednesday Snow on pitch, Thursday snow melted and light rain pitch to wet to get onto. Friday Morning Frozen solid from over night, Friday afternoon 2-30pm to 3pm some areas (not many) soft groundsman able to flatten some divots still rock hard edges of ruts, the usual corner rock hard

RR so where are you comparing the beaconsfield pitch too?

And the timing has everyone in agreement as Ref comes from Milton Keynes. Corby are leaving at 10-45 and the Local Ref has also got to get to his game as well.

So sorry we couldn't sort it out for you the way you wanted    (before anyone moans this bit is said in jest as it's been a long day)

Please note this has not been edited after a complaint   lol

This doesn't bode well for the rest of the fixtures. We seem to have quickly reached a situation where every game between the beginning of December and the end of February should be regarded as off unless the pitch and the weather conditions are deemed to be 100% perfect. I admit, I haven't actually seen the pitch. I'm about four miles away and at a slightly lower level but I'm sure there wouldn't have been a shred of doubt about this one taking place two or three seasons ago. If this is now the norm, I think the game at the non-league level has had it.

Fair enough, just would have liked it given more of a chance. I'm no expert but I would have thought a bit of rain would help thaw it out a bit! It's funny as one of our managers was on Twitter criticising clubs who call games off too early and we are doing the same today.

With all the facts at kick off it would have still been frozen, we as in the groundsman, local Ref and me know the ground and how it plays as we are there most days at this time of year. As it is if there were to be a down pour it would not drain away because it would of just laid on top of the pitch.

There is rain forecast heavier at 3, but who knows I'll get the seaweed out next time.
