Swifty your a muppet, why denergrate Frimley Green, when you were not even playing them yesterday.Yes due to circumstances unknown to you or me,they only had 7 players against Molesey,so the game never started, let alone reach half time.I am coming to the conclusion that Ashford are Angels, never misbehave, and the supporters are Big time Charlies. You only pipe up when you win.

Which is quite often to be fair Smudge  :)

The league gets more intriguing by the day!

At the risk of serving myself a second supper: behave, Mr Eaton. Swifty is not the kind of myopic fan with tangerine-tinted specs you imagine. He rarely travels to away games because, in addition to following Ashford, he is a groundhopper who has visited every single club in the CCL and paid his gate money in the process. He is, in short, a proper football fan.

As for Ashford being angels? Not a chance; the sending off against Colliers Wood last week was absolutely right; the lad committed two offences and the caution issued on each occasion was spot on. He was probably trying too hard to impress on his debut. The team is, however both young and exciting to watch. I don't get to many games, but I've enjoyed every one I've watched, even when Town have been beaten. Every match I've seen has been hard-fought and competitive and it is good to be in a League where every game means something.

Even if Camberley and Molesey do win their games in hand, there's a lot of football to be played. Besides, it's just good for Ashford to be winning regularly again after some difficult times. No one at the club thought for a moment it had a divine right to go straight back up and the challenge has been every bit as tough as was anticipated. However, having been at Step 3 relatively recently, we are there to be shot at as Windsor were before us and that's fair enough. I don't know if that makes us "big time" but, then again, despite reading what's said regularly, I hardly ever 'pipe up' on our forum, never mind on here!

Swifty your a muppet, why denegrate Hartley Wintney as a Club, that should no longer be in the CCL IN YOUR OPINION.When you praise 2 Hartley players for their actions,in stopping any trouble as you put it escalating. No condemnation of your supporters for their actions ie baiting. As for 3 Clubs  being relegated from the CCL1,they were given ample time to get their grounds up to scratch, but for 1 reason or another, were unable to do so.The sad thing for me,is that Clubs who have got the grading in Div 1, for Promotion to the PremierCould be denied by Clubs  who have not.

Assuming that you are calling me "Mr Bean" as opposed to "Beano", which I have answered to for years, then yes, I'll happily comment.

I wasn't at the match yesterday, so I don't know what was said by the supporters. However, I note that the official Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC website makes the following comment:

Sadly, Cook rather lost his head and then reacted to some fairly innocuous comments, vaulting the fence to get at a group of spectators.  Fortunately, his own goalkeeper and other colleagues were sensible enough to block him off and he was eventually persuaded to leave the pitch.

To me, "fairly innocuous" suggests to me that what was said was pretty tame, although I don't know.

As for your point about ground grading, I am amused that given your regular attacks on The FA and the County FAs, you choose to take their side on this. Relegating three clubs from an already short-handed Division One doesn't help to keep the division viable, which is what Swifty was trying to say. I do take your point about promotion being blocked by clubs not having the grading, but that is a matter for the League, who (should the rules allow it) could promote the fourth placed club in place of one of the top three if that was a better option than reprieving clubs. However, I am not an expert on the CCL's regulations, so I stand to be corrected on that.

Guildford City 3 Horley Town 3

Another £7 to get in hate the place for watching football miles from the pitch and it still looks like something out of a Russian state! Programe all flashy but had the game down as Guildford vs Molesey?

We had manager Anthony Jupp play at the back and welcomed back verteran John Eldred in midfield out for almost a year through injury. We were so much in control it was ambarassing. Scored first through Ashley and had four more goldern oppertunaties to scorer all missed fluffed! Guildford broke and hit the bar. One nil up at half time Guildford hit back almost from kick off as we hit self destruct. Got back in front through Aidan. Next the same assistant who gave the penalty on Tuesday when it was not missed Guildford handlering the ball into the back of the net to make it two two (Told you not to trust a man in tights!) We then had five more good chance to scorer before Guildford took the lead, we then hit back to make it three three and scored again in the last minute but it was to far away to see why the refere dissalowed the goal. Looking at the game we must have had 10 good chances to score but only took three Guildford had four chances to score and scored three! Must be going soft thought it was the third good referee on the trout we have had :D

The rules are quite clear Gareth, you have to finish top 3 to be considered for promotion to the Premier Division:

13.4 ii) The Competition will accept the champion club, the runners-up and the third place club from Division One into the Premier Division, providing that they meet the standard grading requirements for entry to the Premier Division of the Competition.

Technically you can argue that Eversley & California "blocked" promotion to Staines Lammas last season whilst Lammas themselves blocked others in seasons 2007/8 & 2008/9. Worcester Park have "blocked" the most - seasons 2006/7, 2009/10 & 2010/11. I find some irony in the fact that both the "blocking" and the solution are criticised in equal measure.

The match report from Saturday's game against Camberley Town is here:

http://www.eefconline.co.uk/LCN140.html

In my opinion, we didn't help ourselves today with critical errors at the wrong time, but you couldn't argue that Camberley were the better side and I was particularly impressed with their centre forward, Hubbard. Well, until he got sent off anyway!

Based on history, Camberley are in with a chance of their greatest ever season, having never won two "proper" cups in one season. By that I am not including the smaller area restricted competitions. Will it be too much for them? Based on Saturday's results with the two other in-form sides from the top five both losing, it is becoming difficult to see where the Krooners will drop this many points right now.

April 18th Molesey v Camberley. I hope there is still something on that game when they meet. Should be an exciting one! People here are right though in that there is a long way to go yet and all of the top five could still win the League. I bet Farnham and Badshot Lea wished they had started the season the way they are playing now though.

I just want to dip into this Ashford v Hartley Wintney debate. I found the Ashford fans less than sporting when my team visited in January, at least in the first half, as they sort of gave up on their side in the second when they realised the ref wasn't buying their constant whining. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that someone reacted to comments from their crowd. Whilst what the Hartley guy did was inexcusable, especially after the incident earlier this season involving their team, they have brought a great deal of credit to the League recently with their F.A. Cup run and to suggest that a club should be removed from the League because of one player's actions is a stupid suggestion, regardless of whether the poster is a ground hopper who's visited all of the CCL clubs and is a "proper football fan". Big deal, there are probably a hundred on this forum who are in that category.

Likewise it is equally dense to suggest that Frimley should be removed just because they couldn't get a side up on one occasion. It happened to Badshot Lea a couple of seasons back yet they are a very stable club at this level. The League Committee will make the right decision, based on all the facts, as indeed the County FA will ensure that the Hartley player gets his three match ban. Any more though will depend on the referee's report and whether he mentioned the "extra curricular diversion" on the way off the field.

As for those clubs who look like they will be forced out this year by the FA's decision, I can see both sides of this. As smudge says, they have had a substantial amount of time to sort their issues out and both have been unable to do so. That might sound harsh, but without lights they haven't been able to play in Step Five for some time now so it wasn't exactly preventing a club from progressing up the pyramid as they couldn't have gone any further anyway. It was going to happen eventually, so whilst I sympathise with their situation, the rules have been in place for a while and I equally sympathise with clubs who've been denied promotion by finishing behind one of those clubs. Who knows where Staines Lammas for example would be now if they hadn't been blocked in the past.
